Disinfo: Since Euromaidan, the West dictates political appointments in Ukraine

Summary

Ukraine is under complete external control when all appointments are regulated and decided not in Ukraine, and not in Kyiv, but in other places.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine, which is often claimed to be under external control by the US, NATO, the EU, UK, or IMF.

Ukraine is a sovereign state. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world, including the EU. The EU and the US work closely with Ukraine and support the democratic development of Ukraine in accordance with the UN Charter’s principles of non-interference into internal affairs and respect towards territorial integrity and political independence.

The West does not dictate nor regulate appointments in Ukraine. All decisions concerning the appointments are made by the appropriate state authorities, first of all the Verkhovna Rada, the Cabinet of Ministers, the President, different central and local institutions. As in any democracy it is the people who vote for the President, members of the parliament and local councils.

Disinfo: Putin paralysed Ukraine in Nagorno-Karabakh

What happened in Nagorno-Karabakh and the strategy of President Vladimir Putin paralysed Ukrainian leadership. Their plans in the Donbas and Crimea are now unfeasible. Ukraine was discussing military cooperation with Turkey, but the peace deal shocked both leaderships. If Ukraine, following Azerbaijan’s example, tried to take back the Donbas with force now, it would give Russia a free hand to act.

Disproof

Recurring Russian disinformation about alleged Ukrainian attempts to exploit the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis by taking with force Donbas and Crimea.

There is no link between the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the war in Ukraine. The recent escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh region is a continuation of the decades-old conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, while the war in Eastern Ukraine is a well-documented act of ongoing aggression by Russian armed forces, since February 2014.

Disinfo: Biden won the election due to serious violations

The American electoral system was established with one goal, which is to strengthen the two-party system, by which the struggle for administrative influence in the country is fought. This time, the Republicans lost the fight. And the fact that serious violations were committed in a number of major states, shifting the result sharply in the direction of Joe Biden, and the inability to prevent them, indicates that the Democrats won this internal struggle. But the most important thing is that the “smell” of Biden’s victory will haunt him for the four years. The scale of electoral violations is so great that it will chase him anywhere.

Disproof

The story is part of an emerging pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative seeking to delegitimise the conduct and results of the 2020 US Presidential election.

So far no evidence of massive fraud has been presented except rumours. Several reliable sources debunked the massive fraud claims: the BBC, The Guardian, the New York Times, Forbes, Le Monde.

Disinfo: No evidence of Trump collusion with Russia

Over the years of Trump’s presidency, Democrats have tried to accuse him of collaborating with Russia, and they looked for evidence of that, and never found it.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation denying Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.

Available evidence suggests that Russian meddling the 2016 US presidential poll - which specifically aimed to damage Clinton's campaign and aid her opponent - did affect the outcome of the vote, particularly in three critical swing states where Trump's victory margins were the thinnest.
