DISINFO: The Soviet Union is not responsible for attacking Poland in 1939 and unleashing WWII
SUMMARY
European Parliament almost equated the Nazi aggressors and the Soviet Union. They almost blame USSR in the same way as Nazi Germany for unleashing WWII. As if they forgot, who had attacked Poland on September 1, 1939, and the Soviet Union on June 22, 1941.
RESPONSE
This message is part of the Kremlin’s policy of historical revisionism and an attempt to erode the disastrous historical role of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact by stating that other European countries signed various international agreements with Germany after 1934. Read other examples referring to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact here, here and here. German troops invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. On 18 September, the European Parliament adopted a resolution, describing the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact of 23 August 1939 as a key element, causing World War II. The text of the resolution can be found here.
