Hybrid troops in Donbas did not kill the famous opera singer, but a terrorist

Summary

The speech of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly was propaganda, he lied about the murder of opera singer Vasyl Slipak in the Donbas. The hybrid troops did not kill the famous opera singer, but eliminated the terrorist, who killed civilians.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about there being a civil war in Ukraine, and that terrorists, nationalists from the Right Sector and militants are killing civilians in Donbas. The Ukrainian army are not terrorists

In his speech to the General Assembly, President of Ukraine Zelenskyy reminded the world of Russian aggression in Ukraine and stressed that no one can feel safe while there is a war in Europe. The President also showed a sniper bullet, similar to the one that killed Vasyl Slipak (also known as Wassyl Slipak), who fought in the Donbas on the Ukrainian side (see video from 02:33).

World-famous Ukrainian soloist of the Paris National Opera Vasyl Slipak was killed by a sniper bullet on the Donbas frontline on 29 June 2016.  In 2015, Vasyl Slipak went to the front as a fighter in the 7th separate battalion of the Volunteer Ukrainian Corps. This battalion is no longer affiliated with the "Right Sector" and since 2015 has officially been part of the Azov regiment of the Eastern Operational and Territorial Association of the National Guard of Ukraine (see video 00.22-00.43). The battalion was in the combat zone legally, as part of the Ukrainian army.

EP resolution is an ideological weapon against Russia

The claim that Communism and Nazism were similar – stressed in the recent EU Parliament resolution – is an EU ideological weapon against Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative claiming that the recognition and denunciation of Stalinist crimes against humanity are Western anti-Russian propaganda.

The European Parliament resolution on the importance of European remembrance for the future of Europe stresses the vital importance of remembering victims of totalitarian and authoritarian regimes - and of raising awareness of the crimes committed by Communist and Nazi regimes - for the unity of Europe and for building European resilience against modern external threats.

Greta Thunberg is a mouthpiece used by the lobbyists of green energy giants

The creators and sponsors of this “miracle in braids” have turned up the farce at the UN. Who knows how far they might push this poor teenager. Although she might not be that poor after all […]  She is just a mouthpiece used by the lobbyists of green energy giants who demand huge government subsidies.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory, based on recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about climate change and  Greta Thunberg.

In 2018 Greta Thunberg launched the "Fridays For Future" movement, encouraging students to skip school to demand action on climate change from their governments. There is no evidence to suggest links between her and the "green lobby".

The US has turned Ukraine into a puppet

Ukraine is an American project. They made their own puppet out of Ukraine, to use it how it goes.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative, challenging Ukrainian statehood. For example, pro-Kremlin media has claimed that Ukraine has become a vassal of Germany and Ukraine is under US control.

Ukraine is a sovereign state. Neither the US nor the EU countries control Ukraine. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the free world but were violated by Russia in 2014.
