The Polish role in Maidan was discussed more than once. Warsaw is still playing an active role in the ‘democratisation’ of Ukraine and Belarus: educating opposition politicians, giving away scholarships and Polish cards. In Kyiv, this had a particular outcome – nationalists and descendants of those who organised massacres in Volhynia came to power. However, notwithstanding the lesson learned in Ukraine, Poland keeps supporting Belarusian nationalists and is preparing the opposition to replace Lukashenko.
Conspiracy theory which contains recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Euromaidan protests, West-staged colour revolutions in Belarus and Ukraine as well as nationalists being in power in Ukraine. The Pole's Card referred to in the article is a document given to ethnic Poles confirming that its holder belongs to the Polish nation. It is not granted only to Ukrainians and Belarusians. A recent legal amendment has granted the right to apply for the document to foreigners of Polish descent from all over the world. In no way this means that Poland was behind Euromaidan or is preparing a colour revolution in Belarus. More than that, the spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was an organic reaction by numerous parts of the Ukrainian population to former President Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013.
