Disinfo: The closure of polling places in Russia makes the Ukrainian elections illegitimate

Summary

The Kyiv’s authorities decision to close polling places in Russia makes the Ukrainian elections illegitimate. Kyiv restricts the constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens living in Russia.

Disproof

The decision approved by the Ukrainian Central Election Commission is not meant to restrict the constitutional rights of Ukrainian citizens. According to Ukrainian foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin, the polling stations in Russia will be closed for security reasons. Five foreign polling stations from Russia will be transferred to the embassies of Ukraine in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Finland to "ensure security and safety of Ukrainian citizens".

"We believe that holding free and fair elections on the territory of the aggressor state is impossible and devoid of political and legal sense, while for those who decide to take part, it is simply dangerous," declared Klimkin.Further debunking by Stop Fake.

Disinfo: By 2050, the European Union will become Islamic

By 2050, the European Union will become Islamic. Some people in Europe are already replacing the star on the Christmas tree with a crescent moon [Islamic iconographic symbol]. The green banner of the Prophet will unite the European Union much more strongly than bureaucrats in Brussels. With migrants continuing to arrive in Europe, the balance is shifting even more towards Islamization. According to the most moderate forecasts, Europe will change completely and irrevocably by 2050. The day will come when Russia will need to defend its western borders more than its southern borders from penetration by radical Islamists.

Disproof

No evidence is provided to support this claim. This case exemplifies recurring pro-Kremlin narratives about the Islamization of Europe and decaying, threatened European values. While the net number of Muslims living in Europe is expected to rise over the coming decades, Christians will remain by far the largest religious group in Europe. The Muslim population in Europe is expected to increase only by about 3.4% from current numbers (around 6.8%) to 2050 (about 10.2%). This increase hardly indicates mass Islamization that will change Europe "completely and irrevocably". According to the Pew Research Center, Europe is expected to see a decline in its total population between 2010 and 2050. Christians will continue to be the largest religious group in the region, but their numbers are expected to drop by about 100 million people, falling from 553 million in 2010 to 454 million in 2050. Europe’s Jewish population is also expected to shrink, from 1.4 million in 2010 to 1.2 million in 2050. Other religious groups in Europe are projected to grow in number due to a combination of higher birth rates, younger populations, and net gains via migration and religious switching. Europe’s Muslim population is projected to grow from 43 million in 2010 to 71 million in 2050. The religiously unaffiliated population is expected to grow from 140 million in 2010 to 162 million in 2050. Hindus, Buddhists, and members of other religions are expected to experience large gains relative to their 2010 population size, but none of these groups is forecast to exceed 3 million people in 2050. In 2010, Christians made up 74.5% of the European population, while Muslims accounted for 5.9% and the religiously unaffiliated accounted for 18.8%. All other religious groups constituted less than 1% of the total population. In 2020, Christians are expected to account for 72.2%, Muslims for 6.8%, and the unaffiliated for 20%. By 2050, the distribution is projected to be 65.2% Christians, 10.2% Muslims, and 23.3% unaffiliated, with all other religions remaining under 1%.
