Disinfo: The establishment of a external control by the West was the real goal of the 2014 revolution in Ukraine

Summary

External control over Ukraine is an obvious fact. The establishment of external control was the real goal of the 2014 revolution. Today’s Ukraine can only exist under the external control of the West.

External control over Ukraine is an obvious fact and cannot be hidden by closing TV channels and sanctions against Medvedchuk and his wife, which looks particularly low – in line with those who rule in Kyiv today. First, the establishment of external control was the real goal of the 2014 revolution. Second, Poroshenko put Biden at the head of the table and recognised him as the true ruler of Ukraine. Third, Zelenskyi can only manage his own comedy district, but here he cannot manage without external control. Moreover, Ukraine can only exist under external control of the West. They call it “independence”.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives. No evidence is given to back up the claim that Ukraine is under external control. Several previous disinformation cases on Ukraine being under foreign control can be found in our database.

Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. Ukraine is not controlled by any foreign government or organisation. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world, including the EU.

There was no coup d'état in Ukraine. The spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was a reaction by numerous segments of the Ukrainian population to former president Viktor Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013.

NATO's statements about the need to confront Russia are caused by the crisis within the West

NATO’s statements about the need to confront Russia are caused by the crisis within the West and, as a result, the search for an enemy.

The front facade (of the West) just collapsed, and we saw what was happening there – nothing was left of some kind of solidarity, no one really wants to help anyone, there is a terrible fuss and a fight with each other, for the division of money, vaccines, redistribution of resources among themselves … Economic problems, problems of migration, social rights, human rights – we saw all this in a bouquet. So they had to urgently use their beloved trick and find a new note of aggression in Russia to be able to say: “We don’t need to look at our Western problems, we need to look at Russia, restrain it even more because Russia is threatening us.”

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Western Russophobia and alleged anti-Russian projects in the West, an attempt to divert attention from the multiple violations of international law by Russia in recent years.

This message followed the statement of the NATO Secretary-General about the need to update the NATO Strategic Concept agreed back in 2010.

Ukraine loses more than it gains through association with European Union

Ukraine has lost more than it has gained in the economic sphere since it signed an association agreement with the European Union. First and foremost, it concerns significant quotas on Ukrainian goods and services meant for the European market. Now it is time to revise it.

Disproof

This is a common narrative by Kpro-Kremlin media discrediting Ukraine's relations with the European Union.

In fact, Ukraine has gained very much due to the Association Agreement. Kyiv has taken on important obligations in several crucial spheres, including the economy, industry and environment protection.

The West fabricated the story about Navalny being poisoned

The West fabricated the story about Alexei Navalny’s alleged poisoning [with chemical weapons], to support its perception of “Russia’s aggression”.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative portraying the poisoning of prominent Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny as staged and targeted against Russia.

The prominent Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny fell ill during a flight from Siberia to Moscow on the 20th of August. Initially hospitalised in Omsk, at the request of his family he was transferred to Charité hospital in Berlin. At the request of the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, a specialist Bundeswehr laboratory carried out toxicological tests on samples from Alexei Navalny. The results of these tests have revealed unequivocal proof of the presence of a chemical nerve agent from the Novichok group.
