Disinfo: The European Parliament resolution on the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact is aimed at the demonisation of Russia

Summary

Currently, there is an anti-Russian campaign going on, it is aimed at the demonisation of Russia. Unfortunately, Poland also takes part in this campaign. Polish politicians were present among the initiators of a completely outrageous resolution of the European Parliament, which makes the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany equally responsible for the outbreak of World War II.

Disproof

This message is part of the Kremlin’s policy of historical revisionism and an attempt to portray Russia's role in World War II as not aggressive. Recently, pro-Kremlin media has been actively spreading various disinformation messages referring to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.

The European Parliament resolution on the importance of European remembrance for the future of Europe stressed the fact that WWII was an immediate result of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. The resolution is aimed at the promotion of historical remembrance about WWII and condemnation of totalitarian ideologies.

It is a proven historical fact that the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact contained the Secret Supplementary Protocol, which assumed the division of Poland and other Eastern European countries between the USSR and Germany. Thus, the signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact enabled the German and Soviet military aggression against Poland in September 1939, which resulted in the occupation of this country by Germany and USSR, triggering the beginning of WWII.

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about WWII and the Holocaust.

Disinfo: The new coronavirus is a US biological weapon

The appearance of coronavirus could be the result of the use of an American biological weapon. Recall the scandal in 2010, when one of the 400 American military biological laboratories deployed around the world was closed in Indonesia because it was conducting secret experiments with the bird flu virus. When the virus emerged from the laboratory and a serious pandemic began, the United States refused to provide information about its work to the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

Disproof

This is not the first time the claims that the United States is creating a biological weapon appear. It has been stated before in several pro-kremlin articles and talk shows, especially to comment on the story on Skripal poisoning and also to discredit the account of Yulia Skripal.

The comments about the US creating a biological weapon against Russians come from Igor Nikulin, who is usually presented as a former inspector of the UN Commission on Chemical, Bacteriological and Biological Weapons. According to Russian website “the Insider”, Nikulin has no connection with the UN. Furthermore, on his website, Nikulin describes himself as a supporter of a monarchy in Russia and proclaims his alleged descent from the ancient Rurik dynasty.

Disinfo: Poland and Nazi Germany planned a military campaign against the Soviet Union and the final solution

Nobody was shocked when the German historian Rolf-Dieter Müller, in his book “The Enemy in the East. Hitler’s Secret Plans to Invade the Soviet Union”, wrote that the Poles, who courted Hitler’s favour, jointly planned a military campaign against the Soviet Union with Nazi Germany, as well as the final solution to the “Jewish question”.

Disproof

Recurring narrative of an ongoing pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign targeting Poland. This narrative aims at vilifying Poland by accusing it of being an ally and partner of Nazi Germany.

In his book The Enemy in the East. Hitler’s Secret Plans to Invade the Soviet Union”, German military historian, Rolf-Dieter Müller, does not argue that Poland and Nazi Germany jointly planned a military campaign against the Soviet Union, nor does he argue that the two countries cooperated in planning the “final solution” to the “Jewish question”.
