DISINFO: The "European integration" of Ukraine is just colonisation
SUMMARY
The “European integration” of Ukraine is colonisation - the country is losing human and material resources on such a scale that no “EU integration” will ever compensate this loss. The Ukrainian myth of European integration has no economic justification.
Today, up to 18 million of Ukrainians live outside are outside the borders of their state, taking into account uncontrolled territories. The allies have done far more economic damage to Ukraine by extending restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative alleging that Ukraine is a Western “tool” against Russia.
The article also undermines Ukrainian statehood, portraying Ukraine as a puppet or a colony of the collective West. The claim aims to deflect any Russian responsibility for the unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on 24 February 2022.
The main cause of all the current economic, demographic and social problems in Ukraine is the ongoing large-scale Russian invasion of this country.
After the outbreak of the full-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine, the EU started providing economic and financial support of this country. As a result of the Russian aggression, over six million refugees left Ukraine – 90% of them are women and children.
EU membership comes with many advantages. One of the cornerstones of EU integration, the single market makes it possible for goods, services, capital and people to move across the bloc. Ukraine applied for EU membership in February 2022 and was granted EU candidate status in June 2022. The Council will decide on further steps once Ukraine fulfils the conditions outlined in the European Commission's opinion on its EU membership application.
Ukraine is not controlled by the US, EU or any other foreign organisation or government. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the world but have been violated by Russia since 2014. Western and other countries are providing lethal military aid and financial aid to Ukraine for the country’s efficient self-defence against the unprovoked Russian invasion.
