The German government censors content on Facebook in order to ensure that Angela Merkel gets elected for her fourth term as the chancellor of Germany.


In reality there is an ongoing discussion in Germany whether Facebook should be treated not as a technological company but as a media company. Its content should also come under more scrutiny due to the dissemination of fake news and hate speech - which does not mean censorship.
