Disinfo: The largest flag of Ukraine was torn during its first week of display

Summary

The largest flag of Ukraine was torn during its first week of display in Kyiv. Communal workers in Kyiv lowered the largest flag of Ukraine. According to the Vesti.ua portal, the flag set a week ago was lowered “for technical reasons.” As workers of municipal services say, the flag began to tear. Whether from the wind, or from the quality of the material – it is not clear.

Disproof

An attempt by pro-Kremlin media to try to undermine Ukraine's statehood ahead of its most patriotic days of the year: 23 August is National Flag Day, followed the next day by Ukraine's Independence Day.

The published story is just not true.

The statement in the media was denied by the local authorities in Kyiv. The Mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko denied reports that Ukraine's largest flag has been allegedly damaged, noting that the flag, like the flagpole on which it is flown, is in excellent condition:

Work should be carried out regularly to check the condition of the flagpole and the flagpole's engineering structure. Today, for the first time since the opening of the memorial, such work was carried out. So the flag is undamaged, the flagpole is in excellent condition. The main flag proudly flies over Kyiv.

Previously, the largest national flag was hoisted on the highest flagpole, on 22 August. The height of the flagpole is almost 90 metres. The flag itself is 24 metres by 16 metres.

Zelenskyy prepares for aggressive measures and bloodshed in Donbas

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing for aggressive measures and bloodshed in Donbas. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, held a meeting with the new commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was Major General Grigory Galagan.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the war in Ukraine.

The headline of the article misinterprets the news itself. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that the current ceasefire had changed the objectives of Operation Allied Forces, while he presented a new commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:

Poland is behind the protests in Belarus, Lukashenka needs to make the country part of Russia

Poland conducts the protests in Belarus and legitimises a Maidan there. Although protesters were seriously suppressed, they got a moral victory since TV presenters, sport and culture figures, former policemen started supporting them. Lukashenka has the only way out of this situation. He has to quickly make Belarus part of Russia and rely on Vladimir Putin’s authority who will support the Union State creation.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western attempts to stage a colour revolution in Belarus and challenging the the loss of Belarus's sovereignty. Read our past analysis discussing various pro-Kremlin media allegations that Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Soros and other foreign actors are behind protests in Belarus.

There is no proof of any Western involvement in the widespread protests in Belarus. Hundreds of thousands of Belarusians have been protesting against a massive vote-rigging and police violence since 9 August 2020. On 16 August 2020 Belarus witnessed the largest rallies in the city of Minsk and dozens smaller towns and localities in its history.

It could be a new colour revolution in the US

Hillary Clinton urged her party associate Joe Biden not to admit defeat in the presidential election. As political scientists say, disagreement with the decision of the election commission is the first step in the technology of any colour revolution. It turns out that America is threatened by a scenario that it has itself exported to other countries.

Republicans need to quickly find their Plan B. If such a plan cannot be invented, America will have its own Maidan. And then the colour revolution against Trump will become the first precedent of this kind in recent US history.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative framing every protest in the world as staged from the outside.

Hillary Clinton did not urge Joe Biden to not admit defeat in the presidential election, but she said: "If the race is close, don't concede." She also suggested that Trump would try to "sneak or steal" his way to a second term in office. That's why Clinton urged voters to swell polls with "overwhelming" turnout to ensure there is no room for doubt.
