Disinfo: The Pentagon has launched a compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military

Summary

While the American public avoids US vaccines, the Pentagon has launched a forced and compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military that is facing massive resistance.

Disproof

The article’s claims are consistent with a pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting US and Western vaccines and vaccination efforts.

It is not true that the American public is avoiding US vaccines, nor that the Pentagon has launched a compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military.

The United States finances and produces three vaccines currently on the market, authorised and recommended by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA): Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine. All three vaccines have very high, near 100% prevention of hospital admissions and death from the virus.

According to the Pew Research Center, 69% of Americans intend to get a vaccine – or already has. As of 6 May 2021, the United States has administered 252 million vaccine doses. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on May 2021 about 150.4 million people have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, including about 110.9 million people who have been fully vaccinated by Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine or the two-dose series made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. More than 57% of adults have received at least one shot.

Furthermore, it is not true that the Pentagon has launched a forced and compulsory vaccination campaign among the military. The Pentagon has instead reiterated that the vaccine is voluntary and will not be required of personnel until the U.S. Food and Drug Administration gives full approval of the vaccine outside of emergency use.

According to Military.com, by April the Navy had the highest vaccination rates among the services (40% fully vaccinated), followed by the Marine Corps (27% fully vaccinated), Air Force and Space Force (25% fully vaccinated) and the Army (14,5% fully vaccinated).

Disinfo: The West using Ukraine as a tool to undermine peace and security in the Black Sea region

The West contributes to global destabilisation, in particular, it is actively trying to push Russia against its neighbours. This is what, for example, the "Crimean Platform for de-occupation" is aimed at. This is an absolute provocation aimed at inciting Ukraine, using it as a tool to undermine peace and security in the Black Sea-Mediterranean basin. This cannot lead to anything good. Western countries will not get anything good from this. They will only jeopardise their own safety.

Disproof

Unfounded statement about the West's aggressive agenda around the world, and hostile attitude to Russia. The article also contains a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukrainian statehood, claiming that Ukraine is under external control. Several previous disinformation cases on Ukraine being under foreign control can be found in our database.

Ukraine is not ruled on the orders of a belligerent West or the US. Ukraine's territorial integrity is respected by most of the world but was violated by Russia in 2014. Ukraine is not a Russophobic country. It had to react to Russia's aggressive actions in Eastern Ukraine and the occupation and illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Disinfo: There is no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential election

There is no evidence that Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential election.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation theme attempting to depict accusations of Russian interference in the 2020 US presidential elections, in the 2016 US presidential elections, and in other political processes in Western countries as factually unfounded.

The US Treasury Department stated that Russian Intelligence Services “operate a network of websites that obscure their Russian origin to appeal to Western audiences” - including outlets such as SouthFront, NewsFront, InfoRos and the Strategic Culture Foundation - that “focus on divisive issues in the United States, denigrate U.S. political candidates, and disseminate false and misleading information”, and took part in a coordinated effort to interfere in the recent US presidential elections.

Disinfo: Crimean referendum and secession from Ukraine fully complied with Article 138 of the Constitution of Ukraine

As for Crimea, one time (1991) an Autonomous Republic, despite the position of the local population, remained part of Ukraine. The rights of the Crimean people were more or less protected. But after the nationalists came to power, when the slogan "Crimea without Russians" was sounded, the lives and security of the inhabitants of the peninsula were endangered. A decision had to be made, it was made. The Crimean referendum and secession from Ukraine fully complied with Article 138 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Disproof

Manipulative statements. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the illegal annexation of Crimea, claiming that it voted to rejoin Russia through a legal referendum.

Crimea is an internationally recognised part of Ukraine. Іn 1997, by signing the Friendship Agreement with Ukraine, Russia also recognised that Crimea belongs to Ukraine.
