Disinfo: The Polish Prime Minister claims that the territory of Western Belarus historically belongs to Poland

Summary

The Polish Prime Minister stated that the future of Belarus was of fundamental importance for his country. According to his words, the western territories of Belarus historically belong to Poland. Warsaw has taken many concrete steps in order to support the Belarusian revolution: financial support for the victims of Belarusian authorities, invitation of Belarusian students to Poland, simplification of border crossing regulations, support for independent media and NGOs.

Disproof

This message is part of the Kremlin’s narrative accusing Poland of having an imperialist policy and making territorial claims against Ukraine and Belarus. In addition, this message contains a popular disinformation narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus and to disrupt Belarusian-Russian relations. It accuses Poland of a plan to intervene in the domestic affairs of Belarus, which is a severe violation of the principles of diplomacy and international relations.

There is no evidence that the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki made the claims about the historical belonging of Belarusian territory to Poland and the Polish support for the Belarusian revolution. Poland fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine and stands for the development of a strategic partnership with these countries.

Poland is a neighbour of Belarus and it continues to support the Belarusian people. Poland respects the principles of international law and does not intervene in the domestic affairs of any country.

See similar pro-Kremlin claims against Poland - Poland presented a plan of active interference in the domestic affairs of Belarus, Poland and Lithuania directly sponsor open extremist actions against Belarus and Polish authorities are obsessed with an idea of reconstruction of a modern Polish empire.

The same article contained another disinformation message that Poland is calling upon NATO to establish a special military force to be used against Belarus.

Disinfo: US destroyer violated Russian territorial waters

If you ask where would the war between the United States and Russia start at sea? The answer would be the following: in the Peter the Great Gulf. Because the US destroyer’s “John McCain” recent violation of Russian territorial waters in this region creates all the precursors for that.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the US preparing war against Russia.

The vessel (USS John McCain) mentioned in the article was performing what the US Navy describes as a freedom of navigation operation, or FONOP, in the vicinity of Peter the Great Gulf, which Russia claims as Russian territorial waters, but that the United States considers international waters.

Disinfo: The US and some European countries interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign states

There is ample evidence of gross interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, both by the United States and those who follow in their footsteps, and some European capitals. They continue to use the dirty methods of so-called colour revolutions, including manipulating public opinion, supporting openly anti-government forces, promoting their radicalisation. We see how these methods are applied to the Republic of Belarus.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative framing popular protests as Western-backed 'colour revolutions', part of a campaign to portray massive mobilisations in Belarus as a destabilisation effort orchestrated from abroad.

There is no evidence that the protests in Belarus are funded and organised by neighbouring or foreign countries.
