DISINFO: The Sea Breeze exercises are directed against Russia

SUMMARY

[The context: Sea Breeze naval exercises of the United States, Ukraine and NATO countries] All the forces of allies of the US are directed against Russia due to geopolitical preconditions. It is about raising the military and political tensions around the Russian boarders especially in the South.

RESPONSE

Sea Breeze is an annually recurring multinational exercise, it does not aim, nor threaten, to invade any territory or to exert any pressure. Military exercises have been conducted since 1997, in accordance with the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministries of Defence of Ukraine and the United States. This year Sea Breeze 2020 exercise began on July 20 with the involvement of Partner countries, which aims to increase the level of interoperability of units of the Ukrainian Navy, US Navy, Partner countries and permanent NATO naval groups, in the course of joint tasks to promote security in the Black Sea region. About 20 countries have joined this year. Sea Breeze is not aimed at "developing military provocations" against Russia, but to enhance the defensive capability of Ukraine and to bring the Ukrainian fleet closer to NATO standards. Read a similar case that NATO`s Sea Breeze 2019 was a total failure thanks to Russia.
