At the Bucharest Summit in April 2008, NATO leaders agreed that Georgia will become a member of NATO, provided that it meets all the necessary requirements. In a statement on NATO’s “open door” policy on 2 December 2015, NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels reiterated their decision at Bucharest and subsequent decisions concerning Georgia.
