Disinfo: The US and Europe are creating a belt of Russophobia and instability around Russia

Summary

During the last decade, the colour revolutions became the main tool of Western geopolitical work used to destabilise and weaken its competitors. But this technology is not a "know-how" any more. Just recently it failed in Belarus and Hong Kong. And the ingloriously failed Russian protests were also organised according to a similar template.

The US and Europe have never concealed that they are creating a belt of Russophobia and instability around Russia.

Disproof

This article promotes recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation about the Western World as a source of colour revolutions as a tool against other countries. It repeats traditional claims about Western Russophobia and aims to encircle Russia.

The 'Western World' does not see Russia as an enemy. Despite complicated relations connected to aggressive Kremlin policy against neighbour countries and violation of international law, the US and the EU hope that it could go back to constructive relations with Russia in the future. See the official position of the EU here and the position of the US here.

It is wrong to compare the protests in Belarus and Hong Kong since they were linked to different reasons and situations. In Belarus, people protested against the falsification of the results of presidential elections. In Hong Kong, public outrage was linked to the deprivation of liberty by continental China.

Representing the latest protest during 2021 in Russia as a colour revolution inspired by the West is also wrong. Many recent protests in Russia in 2021 were linked to the Alexei Navalny case. Pro-Kremlin disinformation often targets Russian opposition figures accusing them of being agents of Western intelligence services. There is no basis to claims that Navalny has connections with foreign intelligence. He has been charged with mock accusations of embezzlement in mock trials. The European Court of Human Rights (where Russia is a member since 1996) has previously concluded that the trial against Navalny was politically motivated. The European Union has condemned the detention of Alexei Navalny and called for his immediate release.

See similar cases when Kremlin disinformation accusing the Western World of Russophobia and promotion of colour revolutions: London-base headquarters organise colour revolutions in Belarus, Myanmar, Russia and the US; Navalny is a NATO agent, provoking a colour revolution in Russia; Americans and Europeans are orchestrating protests around the World.

Disinfo: The Council of Europe is silent about discrimination against Russian speakers in neighbouring countries

The Council of Europe is silent regarding discrimination against Russian people and Russian-speaking people in Ukraine and the three Baltic countries.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation message about the violation of human rights and freedom of speech in Ukraine and the Baltic states. The claim was neither counterbalanced nor critically challenged in the article.

The claim that Ukraine and the Baltic states are discriminating against the Russian language and Russian-speakers is false.

Disinfo: The Council of Europe is indifferent to discrimination of Russian-speaking people in Ukraine and the Baltic states

The lack of a proper reaction to discrimination against Russian-speaking inhabitants of Ukraine and the Baltic states undermines the authority of the Council of Europe.

<...>

The Council of Europe should not regard the glorification of Nazi collaborators and the violation of the rights of Russian-speaking people in some Post-Soviet states with indifference.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation message about the violation of human rights and freedom of speech in Ukraine and the Baltic states.

The claim that Ukraine and the Baltic states are discriminating against the Russian language and Russian-speakers is false.

Disinfo: After the coup on April 7, 2009, Moldova became a Western semi-colony

After the coup on April 7, 2009, Moldova has become a real Western semi-colony. Outside mercenaries and emissaries have made a real takeover of the state.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Moldova.

In 2009, after massive protests in Chisinau, which broke out immediately after the parliamentary elections won by the ruling Communist Party, repeated parliamentary elections were held in Moldova and centre-right and pro-European parties came to power. In 2014 Moldova signed the Association Agreement with European Union, which has been in full effect since July 2016. As a result, the preferential trade system has allowed the country to benefit from reduced or eliminated tariffs for its goods, and increased services market.
