DISINFO: The US and the EU try to entrench totalitarianism in the World

The Western countries try to change international law and to seize the right to global decision making. They want to reverse the process of polycentric world formation. An example of it is the practice of implementation of illegal one-way sanctions. These totalitarian steps, made first of all by the US and the EU, are unacceptable.

The sanctions, implemented by the EU and the US on Russia, are legal and are linked to aggressive actions of Moscow and oppression of human rights. Since March 2014, the EU has progressively imposed restrictive measures against Russia in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and the deliberate destabilisation of Ukraine.
New sanctions were introduced after the assassination attempt on Russian opposition activist Alexei Navalny in 2020. The EU has also sanctioned Russian individuals responsible for serious human rights violations, including arbitrary arrests and detentions, as well as widespread and systematic repression of freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, and freedom of opinion and expression in Russia.
The US has also sanctioned Russian entities and individuals for violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine as well as in response to malign activities such as undermining the conduct of free and fair elections and democratic institutions in the United States and its allies and partners; engaging in and facilitating malicious cyber activities; pursuing extraterritorial activities targeting dissidents or journalists; violating well-established principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of states.
