Disinfo: The US Embassy in Warsaw is able to declare any Polish Government as “non grata”

Summary

The MPs from the Confederation make one mistake: they pretend not to know about the real position of the American Embassy in Poland. This Embassy can declare any Polish Government as “non grata” quicker than the Polish Government declares an American Ambassador as persona non grata.

Disproof

A common pro-Kremlin narrative on “lost sovereignty” - in the case of Poland, this country is often presented as a “puppet-state” of the United States, which fully controls the domestic and foreign policy of this country. In addition, Poland is presented as a country without any real international importance or political significance.

The statement that the US Embassy in Warsaw can declare any Polish Government as “non grata” (meaning, that this Government is entirely submissive to the US Embassy) is a conspiracy theory. Poland is an independent state, which shapes its own foreign and domestic policies.

This claim was made after the appeal of the politicians from the far-right Confederation to declare the US Ambassador in Poland as  persona non grata, accusing her in the "repeated interference in domestic affairs of Poland".

See other messages promoting the statement that Poland is not a sovereign state - Poland is not a sovereign state; Poland is not perceived as a country with an independent foreign policy and Poland is governed by the US Embassy.

Poroshenko is behind the terrorist attacks in Ukraine

“Nationalists” are trying to get power back. They are trying to destabilise the situation [with the help of the terrorist attacks in Ukraine [in July 2020]. It is clear that this is “European Solidarity”, this is the faction of the loser Poroshenko. He wants to take revenge.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the 5th President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The Ukrainian police and the Security Service of Ukraine do not link the hostage-taking in Lutsk on 21 July with Petro Poroshenko or any opposition representatives or activists. The respective message was published by the police of the Volyn region on 22 July. No accusations were made against Poroshenko on 23 July either, when a man took a policeman hostage in Poltava.

NATO troops entered Donbas

Finally, NATO troops entered the territory of Ukraine [Donbas]. It is exactly what they have been dreaming of for a long time, and now they have got this. I think that they will try to gain a foothold here, and then to control the Ukrainian government in order to buy land, ports, factories, nuclear energy – all that hasn’t been already sold in Ukraine. And the guarantor will be foreign troops.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine and NATO.

NATO troops did not enter the territory of Donbas. According to the press service of the "Joint Forces Operation", Ukrainian soldiers with experience of service in the UN peacekeeping missions were sent to eastern Ukraine. "Specially deployed Ukrainian servicemen are arriving on the front line of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Most of them have extensive combat experience and were directly engaged in relevant issues during participation within the UN-sponsored peacekeeping missions."

The West remembers the annexation of Crimea less and less

Russia and its European partners have learned to circumvent the sanctions, reducing their effectiveness, after which the problem of Crimea began to rapidly lose relevance.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea.

The EU still does not recognise the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation and continues to condemn this violation of international law. In June 2020 the European Council decided to renew the sanctions introduced in response to the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by the Russian Federation until 23 June 2021.
