Syrians have gained new experiences over the past decade through the war. Even information wars are no longer able to have an impact and have lost credibility, especially after false accusations of using chemical weapons, which were destroyed in Syria at the request of the Russian side. Not because of Assad, but in order to prevent it from falling into the hands of organisations designated as terrorist.
The trial in the Netherlands in the case of the Boeing downed over Donbass, with all its biasedness, began to voice important data for the Russian position. And first of all, it turned out that the key witness does not know anything about Russia's involvement in this tragedy.
The verdict must, of course, be rendered by an international court - however, it simply does not exist. Yes, a number of countries have created a so-called Joint Investigation Team - and since March 9, 2020 they are conducting some kind of trial in the Netherlands. However, the composition of the group, the position of the prosecution, and the list of the accused (including only four Donbass fighters) look, to put it mildly, one-sided.
Russia is not invited as an equal participant in the process. Published and documented information from the Ministry of Defense (for example, that the missile with serial number 8720, with the help of which the plane was shot down, “on December 29, 1986 was sent by rail to military unit 20152”, which was the 221st anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Carpathian Military District from the city of Terebovlya) is not accepted.
As a result, even the Prime Minister of Malaysia said that "the idea was not to find out how it happened, but was, it seems, focused on trying to put the blame on the Russians."
And now it is obvious that this attempt is also pouring in. In particular, the interrogated militia Volodymyr Tsemakh (whom Kiev positioned as responsible for the air defense in the area of the plane crash) stated that he had not seen any Buks in possession of the Donbass' fighters.
The United States is deliberately hiding the truth about what happened. They still stubbornly, categorically refuse to provide satellite images, which were taken in July 2014, when the Malaysian Boeing disaster occurred. A few days ago, a Dutch court directly announced that there was no more hope that the Americans would provide these images, and the issue was closed for the court.
Why they are hiding it is understandable. Satellite images will show either the Ukrainian Buk air defense missile system, from which it was shot down, or the Ukrainian fighter that attacked the plane (and the version that it was shot down from the air has not yet been discarded).
Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 over Ukraine, aiming to discredit the criminal trial which restarted in June 2021 and the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).
The reason for Russia's non-involvement in the investigation is that the crash did not take place over Russian territory and claimed no Russian lives.
On the 24 May 2018, the JIT announced its conclusion that the BUK TELAR used to shoot down MH17 came from the 53rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade, a unit of the Russian armed forces from Kursk in the Russian Federation.
The repeated Russian accusation that the United States refused to provide satellite images is false.
The head of the Joint Investigative Team (JIT) Fred Westerbeke confirmed back in 2017 that the United States provided the investigation with the highly classified satellite images from the time and place of the MH17 downing.
U.S. intelligence also released part of the satellite images data and other evidence of a Russian connection to the downing of MH17 shortly after the incident took place. The images were widely published and independently analysed.
Regarding Russian data, it turned out that the first batch provided by Moscow was not "raw data" but rather a video combining primary and secondary information. It was intended to corroborate Russia's account of the events.
The raw data provided by Moscow, in the words of the Dutch Public Prosecution Service, "offered contradictory results"; hence, "the investigation of radar data is complete" not only on the basis of the information provided by Moscow but "also on the reasons why other data could not be provided." See here and here for further debunking by Bellingcat and Polygraph.info, respectively.
Thus, in May 2018, investigators of the JIT, leading the official investigation of the death of MH17, presented fragments of a rocket engine with a unique serial number 9032 found at the crash site of Boeing in the Donetsk region. Also in May 2018, the JIT group asked the Russian side to provide all the data concerning the engine found. Four months later, on September 17 2018, Russian Defense Ministry showed several documents mentioning the rocket engine No. 9032 and stated that on December 26, 1986, an engine with this number was installed in the Buk anti-aircraft missile system with a unique number 8720 and sent to the military unit 20152 in the Ternopil region in western Ukraine. Novaya Gazeta noted that in the “restored original form”, the day of the document production is January 14, 1986, while the release of the rocket engine 9032 itself dated December 26, 1986. This discrepancy questions the authenticity of the "irrefutable evidence". The ”evidence” provided by Russia is not only fabricated, but also incompatible. In fact, the second presentation of ”proof” by the Russian Defence Ministry even debunked their first batch of ”evidence”. For more details see here. Another case of faked "evidence" was the infamous Carlos-case. Recurring competing and contradictory stories promoted by Russian state-controlled media on MH17 may be seen here.
