Disinfo: The US is not a democracy and is run by the deep state

Summary

Was there a peaceful transfer of power to Donald Trump in 2016? No, at least not completely, and it is more likely that power was not transferred to him at all. On the economic front, Trump took over immediately and appointed former Goldman Sachs banker, Steven Mnuchin, as Treasury secretary. Politically, the “deep state” defeated his team early on and imposed on him Pompeo, one of Bolton’s crazy hawks, and a number of other figures who followed the “deep state” line, not Trump’s line. Trump, throughout his tenure, has been fighting “Russia Gate” through an agenda alien to him, and resisting sabotage and constant attempts to neutralize and isolate him.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about global elites secretly ruling the world, and specifically a so-called ‘Deep State’ in the United States which rules above elected officials. This narrative aims to question the legitimacy of democracy and Western institutions. No evidence is presented to back up these claims. No reputable political scientists or researchers confirm the existence of a ‘Deep State’ in the United States.

See other examples of these disinformation narratives, such as claims that the result of the US 2020 election doesn’t matter because the real ruler is the Deep State, which will kill any US president that confronts it and is moving the country towards war with Iran and Russia; that Hillary Clinton published the Deep State strategy for the world; or that Covid-19 vaccines will lead to full-spectrum dominance.

This disinformation message appeared in the same article as the claim that US citizens, like the citizens of North Korea, have no influence on the country's decision making and that countries like Ukraine are neither prosperous nor democratic because they submit to US influence.

The article cites an expert, who says that there is a Telegram channel about Russian "punishers", where "they" intend to "drain" the data of the security forces. And, allegedly, it is controlled from Kyiv. But, as usual, absolutely no evidence is given.

The West needs this “leader”(Alexey Navalny) to destabilise the situation in Russia, for social upheaval, strikes and new “Maidans”. What this can lead to, we see the example of Ukraine, which has practically lost its independence.

Disinformation built around the concept of ubiquitous Russophobia and anti-Russian provocations by Western countries to encircle and destabilise Russia and Russian opposition figure Alexey Navalny. The article also contains a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about lost sovereignty undermining Ukrainian statehood.

Alexei Navalny is a founder and leader of the "Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), which has investigated embezzlement from the state budget, uncovered the lives of Russian politicians and businessmen close to the government and different corruption practices. FBK's goal is to eliminate corruption. Their funding comes from donations and therefore the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation recognised FBK as a "foreign agent" due to the Russian "foreign agent" law, since they receive donations from outside Russia. However, FBK does not agree with this claim and is trying to appeal it in court.

The West needs Navalny to create new “Maidans”

Western countries need this “activist” [Alexei Navalny] to destabilise the situation in Russia, for social upheaval, strikes, and new Maidans.

We have the example of Ukraine where this can lead to, with Ukraine in practice having lost its independence.
