Disinfo: The USA conditions Maia Sandu’s victory

Summary

The main condition set by the United States for Maia Sandu’s victory in the second round is allowing Plahotniuc’s return to Moldova.

Disproof

The article's narrative that the USA is controlling the electoral processes in Moldova is disinformation.

There is no evidence to confirm the claim that the US has set a condition for Maia Sandu's victory. Earlier, the US Ambassador to Moldova Derek Hogan said that Regardless of what choice the Moldovan people make on Election Day, "the United States will remain a faithful partner to the Moldovan people and this country’s sovereign right to choose its own path."

As for Vladimir Plahotniuc, Moldova's fugitive oligarch, earlier this year Moldovan prosecutors have charged him for his role in a massive bank theft. Plahotniuc fled Moldova in June 2019 after being forced from parliament as part of a government shakeup brokered by Russia, the United States, and other European partners. According to the press, for a while, he was in Miami, USA, where he also has business. At the end of September 2020, Plahotniuc has been located in Turkey.

The second round of presidential elections will take place in Moldova on 15 November 2020 and will see Maia Sandu face off current president Igor Dodon.

Results of the first round of Moldovan presidential elections were falsified with Western help

The electorate was driven to polling stations in the EU and the USA under all pretexts, and Romanian nationalists, violating all norms and even the criminal code, tried to block the participation of Moldovan citizens living on the left bank of the Dniester in the elections. Roughly speaking, the results of the first round were falsified with the active participation of Western countries!

Disproof

Recurring the pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about foreign involvement in Moldovan internal affairs, including elections.

There is no evidence that Moldovan citizens residing abroad, particularly in the European countries, were brought to the polling stations in an organised manner.

US Elections are clash of straight people and homosexuals

The 2020 Presidential elections in the United States are an ultimate battle between white, straight people, as well as homosexuals, transgenders and people of colour.

Disproof

Pro-Kremlin disinformation about the United States in the context of the 2020 presidential elections.

The article was aimed at discrediting now President-Elect Joe Biden by alleging that his presidency marks the end of white and straight people in the country, as well as at downgrading the Presidential race to an alleged culture war.

The US-led Coalition against ISIS in reality supported ISIS and was complicit in its oil-smuggling operations

The US-led Coalition against ISIS (DAESH) did nothing to combat ISIS and was complicit in its oil-smuggling operations. ISIS was funded by exporting oil from Syrian oil fields in Karkuk and Deir ez-Zor that were under ISIS control. Thanks to the Coalition’s complicity, the oil was transported by tens of oil tankers from countries allied with the anti-ISIS Coalition.

Disproof

The article, which was published in the aftermath of the terrorist attack at a church in Nice, repeats recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the US-led Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS has supported this terrorist organisation instead of fighting it

This message is part of a broader conspiracy theory alleging that the United States and its allies have created and supported many jihadi terrorist organisations and control global terrorism.
