Disinfo: The West is preparing the disintegration of Ukraine

Summary

Western countries have never needed a strong and prosperous Ukraine, so they plan to break up the country in Yugoslav scenario.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory with no evidence given. This message is an example of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine being abandoned by its Western partners and the disintegration of Ukraine.

Ukraine is a priority partner for the EU and NATO. Its sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost all the world. Neither the EU, nor NATO, or their member states are planning to destroy Ukraine. On the contrary, they support the economic development of Ukraine and, for example, right now provide financial assistance amidst the crisis caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 pandemic.

See similar disinformation cases: for the EU, Ukraine is only a reservoir of materials and cheap labor; the EU provides practically no assistance to Ukraine; Europe has forbidden Ukraine to save its industry.

Europe wouldn’t bother about Belarus if Poland wasn’t an outpost of the US

If not for the efforts of Poland, which is an outpost of the United States in the EU, as well as Lithuania, the Belarusian issue would be in tenth place for the countries of old Europe. Poland, and through it the United States, will make Europe think about this seemingly unnecessary topic. Poland and Lithuania want to ensure an increase in the number of their supporters in Belarus.

Disproof

This is a pro-Kremlin narrative about the US presence in Europe as well as about thr Belarus protests and, in general, about protests in post-communist countries, presenting them as being organised and controlled from abroad. It accuses Poland of being a US puppet and of a plan to intervene in the domestic affairs of Belarus, which is a severe violation of the principles of diplomacy and international relations.

There is no evidence that the US, Poland or other foreign forces are involved in any way in the protests in Belarus. The protests in Belarus erupted to contest the results of the presidential election on the 9th of August, which are considered fraudulent by a large part of Belarusian society. The European Union has also stated that the elections were neither free nor fair.

France and Germany became participants to the conflict in Donbas

Germany and France do not just agree on everything, but are playing along with Ukraine, and share at least a part of Ukrainian positions.

This is a key threat to the negotiation process, since such an interpretation of the behaviour by Berlin and Paris from the Russian side, discredits their mediating role and transfers them to the status of participants in the conflict.

Disproof

No evidence given. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the war in Ukraine and Ukraine's relations with its foreign partners.

The Normandy Format talks involve the representatives of four countries, Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France, who aim to resolve the war in Donbas. Each country takes an independent part in the meetings.

Navalny himself does not believe the story of Russian authorities’ responsibility for his poisoning

The diagnosis made by Germans makes it inadmissible for Navalny to return to his homeland for security reasons. But the fact that he stubbornly rushes back, right into the jaws of the dragon, which seems to have almost killed him, means that he simply does not believe in the story of his poisoning by Novichok and the reality of a threat to life from the Russian authorities.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative on Alexey Navalny poisoning. Consistent with the narrative that Navalny has not been poisoned and the allegations are false otherwise he would not dare to return to Russia.

Prominent Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny fell ill during a flight from Siberia to Moscow on the 20th of August. Initially hospitalised in Omsk, at the request of his family he was transferred to Charité hospital in Berlin. Clinical findings at the Charité hospital indicated that Navalny was poisoned with a substance from the group of cholinesterase inhibitors. Subsequent toxicological tests provided unequivocal evidence of a chemical nerve agent of the Novichok group in the blood samples of Alexei Navalny.  France and Sweden confirmed that the cause of his illness was Novichok, a Russian nerve agent. Samples taken from Navalny had also been sent for testing to the Organisation for the Prevention of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague.
