Disinfo: The West is waging a war against Russia in Ukraine…

The West is waging a war against Russia in Ukraine and in Syria.

The West is not waging a war against Russia, which is confirmed e.g. by the statement of the heads of states and governments of NATO allies during the last summit in Warsaw: bit.ly/29Clz6e, // Only the pro-Kremlin media keep talking about this alleged war.

Cases in the EUvsDisinfo database focus on messages in the international information space that are identified as providing a partial, distorted, or false depiction of reality and spread key pro-Kremlin messages. This does not necessarily imply, however, that a given outlet is linked to the Kremlin or editorially pro-Kremlin, or that it has intentionally sought to disinform. EUvsDisinfo publications do not represent an official EU position, as the information and opinions expressed are based on media reporting and analysis of the East Stratcom Task Force.

After Ukraine restores its control over Donbas, Kyiv will resort…

After Ukraine restores its control over Donbas, Kyiv will resort to mass murders of Russians, Poles, and Jews in the area – because the Ukrainian government has proclaimed itself the heir of fascists.

Extremists and provocateurs, to whom Russian media devote much attention, are indeed one of the threats faced across the country but they constitute a very small minority. The vast majority of Ukrainians want peace, stability and democracy, as witnessed by the democratic and inclusive Presidential elections held on 25 May 2014. This was reconfirmed by the parliamentary elections of 26 October 2014, where parties devoted to democratic values received the broad majority of votes. The far-right Right Sector (often depicted as "fascists" by pro-Kremlin outlets) gained only 1,8% of the votes, far short of the threshold needed to enter the parliament. Ukraine's electorate clearly voted for unity and moderation, not separatism or extremism, and the composition of the parliament reflects that (bit.ly/1Tdu8Qw), // There were no credible reports of any ethnic Russians being threatened in Ukraine; only allegations perpetuated by pro-Kremlin outlets.
