Disinfo: The West’s attack against Belarus is also an attack against Russia

Summary

The West’s attack against Belarus is also an attack against Russia. Any attack against a Russian ally is an attack against Russia. Belarus is a real ally of Russia, not just a partner, because of the Union State between Russia and Belarus, because Belarus is an active member of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO). Western states aim to destabilise Belarus and to undermine its sovereignty. The West’s subversive activities in Belarus were planned for months, and NGO and media activism in the country has been sponsored by the West.

Poland and Lithuania are the main actors in the destabilisation of Belarus. The US is also involved because Washington seeks to destroy the Eurasian Economic Union.  The Czech Republic and Ukraine also play a role in the West’s attack against Belarus.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative portraying popular protests against electoral fraud in Belarus as a Western-led colour revolution that aims to destabilise not only Belarus but also Russia. The article also contains another disinformation narrative that accuses Poland and Lithuania of implementing of anti-Russian policies.

There is no evidence that Poland, the Baltic states, or any other Western governments are involved in organising and funding the protests in Belarus nor that they are conducting any activities aimed at destabilising Belarus.

The large-scale protests in Belarus began in Minsk on August 9, 2020 against the results of the presidential election, and then spread to other cities. People revolted against election fraud and police violence against thousands of rally participants.

The European Council condemned the violence against peaceful protesters and announced that it would soon adopt a list of sanctions for those responsible for violence in Belarus. A European Council press release  stated that "As the elections in Belarus were neither free nor fair, and did not meet international standards, the EU does not recognise the results presented by the Belarus authorities".

Pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives frequently claim that popular protests around the world are allegedly incited and funded by the US and other Western states, including colour revolutions in post-Soviet states, the “Arab Spring” revolts, Euromaidan in Ukraine, protests in Catalonia and others. This narrative claims that protests, disorders and civil uprisings are never manifestations of popular discontent but are “colour revolutions” directed and funded by the West.

Read earlier disinformation cases claiming that the West’s hybrid war against Belarus is preparation for an attack against Russia and that the US authorised Poland and Lithuania to organise a colour revolution in Belarus.

Situation with Navalny is a massive disinformation campaign of Western countries

Western countries, the leadership of these countries, officials, educational institutions and groups led by Western countries have started a massive disinformation campaign about the situation of the Russian citizen Navalny.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on the poisoning of Alexei Navalny, portraying Western governments and institutions as inherently Russophobic and trying to harm Russia.

A prominent Russian opposition figure, Alexei Navalny, fell ill during a flight from Siberia to Moscow on the 20th of August. Initially hospitalised in Omsk, at the request of his family he was transferred to Charité hospital in Berlin.

Russia never developed Novichok

The Soviet Union and Russia, unlike the Western countries, never developed or produced Novichok. There is no evidence of Russian traces (of poisoning) and there can be no such evidence.

Disproof

This is part of a pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign on the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny after the use of a chemical nerve agent of the Novichok group was established beyond any doubt by a specialist Bundeswehr laboratory.

In September 2017, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) confirmed the full destruction of the 39,967 tonnes of chemical weapons possessed by Russia, but Novichoks were never declared to the OPCW and were not included in the Chemical Weapons Convention until 2019.

The CIA is organising a colour revolution in the US to oust Donald Trump after the November 2020 elections

Russiagate and Impeachgate were failed coups d’état. The Deep State has decided to oust President Donald Trump by means of a colour revolution because it is aware that should Trump be re-elected he will be able to deal with the treason against him. The US media, as well as numerous websites financed by the CIA and foundations and corporations through which the CIA operates, are instilling the idea in the minds of Americans that Trump will not leave office if he loses, or that he will steal the election with fraud and therefore must be forced out. Trump’s legitimate victory in the elections is not deemed possible.

Should Trump win the election, Antifa and Black Lives Matter will again unleash violent protests in US cities, as they have done recently thanks to support from the Deep State. The CIA will make sure that the violence is well funded . The media and the Democratic Party will explain that the violence is necessary to liberate America from a tyrant.

Disproof

Conspiracy theory. The article provides no evidence to support its claims.

The article repeats the recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation message claiming that a “colour revolution” in the US is underway, or will be implemented, to oust President Donald Trump. According to this narrative, the “colour revolution” is organised by the Democratic Party, the “Deep State”, and/or “globalist élites” such as George Soros, which are allegedly orchestrating and financing violent protests in US cities.
