Disinfo: Ukraine continues to gather military equipment in Donbas

Summary

Ukraine continues to stack military equipment near contact lines in the Donbas region. The country breaks the ceasefire agreement by doing so. Ukraine also interfered with the OSCE mission to hide this equipment from the organisation's monitoring UAVs.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that Ukraine is not willing to implement the Minsk agreements, and Ukraine's position is the only obstacle on the way to the peace process in Donbas.

According to the 04 January 2022 OSCE spot report covering the period between 31 December and 3 January, there were three armoured vehicles in the security zone in government-controlled areas; one BMP-1, one BMP-2, and one BTR-80.

The article also left out some key details: OSCE observers were denied entry to non-government-controlled areas twice by armed formations. Moreover, the OSCE mission experienced GPS signal interference both in non-government-controlled and government-controlled areas.

Pro-Kremlin disinformation portals regularly leave out information on their own breaches of the Minsk agreement or the ceasefire deal.

Disinfo: Lithuania is supporting Russophobia and anti-Semitism

Lithuania officially is supporting aggressive Xenophobia, Russophobia and anti-Semitism. This is destroying the Lithuanian economy which can survive only in cooperation with Russia and Belarus.

Disproof

These are recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation claims about Lithuania.

Lithuania is also not Russophobic but has legitimate concerns about Russia's aggressive behaviour near its borders and in Eastern Europe. The National Security Strategy 2017 of Lithuania notes:

Disinfo: Ukraine lost its statehood to the West, the same fate was hanging over Belarus

Ukraine has lost its statehood and is currently ruled by Washington and Brussels, mostly by the US embassy in Ukraine. Belarus would have faced same fate, had Washington and Brussels, assisted by their puppets, succeeded with a coup d’etat in August 2020. The only guarantee of the statehood of Belarus is the completion of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. If Belarus had chosen European integration, it would have suffered from civil and interconfessional war, marauding and collapse of statehood. If Russia had not been there, all post-Soviet countries would not have differed from African countries, enslaved by the western colonisers.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Ukrainian statehood, portraying Ukraine as a non-sovereign country, and about Belarus as an integral part of the Russian world and its close integration with Russia as the only hope to avoid alleged Western colonial intentions.

This message puts forward a false dilemma about the direction of Belarus and other post-Soviet countries' political development (close integration with Russia vs. unavoidable degradation) and promotes a classic pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the West-driven colour revolution attempt in Belarus in 2020.

Disinfo: Crimea reunited with Russia after the signature of the Accession Treaty to Russia

Crimea reunited with Russia after a referendum on the status of the peninsula and the signature of the Accession Treaty to Russia.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea.

No international body recognises the so-called referendum in Crimea. The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution titled “Territorial integrity of Ukraine”, stating that the referendum in Crimea was not valid and declaring its non-recognition of the illegal annexation of Crimea.
