Disinfo: Ukraine does not comply with Minsk Agreements; similar accusations against Russia are absurd

Summary

The accusations against Russia of non-compliance with the Minsk agreements are absurd, Moscow has no such obligations.

Ukraine is trying to "get" under external control so that the "big curators" share its responsibility for non-fulfilment of obligations.

Kyiv seeks to use its own non-compliance with Minsk agreements in order to keep the EU in the position of anti-Russian sanctions.

Sooner or later, responsible Western politicians must force Kyiv to comply with the Minsk agreements.

Disproof

Several recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives undermining Ukrainian statehood and portraying it as a puppet-state of the West, as well as claiming that Ukraine's position is the only obstacle on the way to the peace process in Donbas.

Ukraine is an internationally recognised sovereign state with its own constitution, democratically elected parliament and president. Ukraine is not controlled by any foreign government or organisation.

Contrary to the claims, the main impediment to a peace settlement in Donbas is, in fact, Russia’s and its proxies’ deliberate unwillingness to implement the Minsk agreements. These documents, signed by representatives of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Ukraine, Russia and leaders of the illegal separatist entities (DNR and LNR), provide, among other things, for a comprehensive ceasefire and withdrawal of foreign troops from Ukraine. Kyiv announced a truce in July 2020, but the Moscow-backed separatists have been violating it virtually every day.

Moreover, Moscow illegally provides weapons to the separatists. This is a well-known fact, although Russia denies it and accuses the US of selling weapons to Kyiv. Ukraine, on the other hand, does not conceal the military aid it receives because it is legal and transparent.

By making statements alleging that Ukraine has done nothing to implement the Minsk agreements, Moscow and the separatists it backs are delaying a peace settlement and try to deflect attention away from this responsibility.

Disinfo: Western sanctions against Belarus are illegitimate, inhumane and political in nature

The periodic Western sanctions adopted on December 2 against Belarus are as illegitimate as any restrictions imposed circumventing the UN Security Council. These sanctions, imposed simultaneously by the United States, the European Union, Britain and Canada, are inhumane in nature, as they negatively affect the lives of ordinary Belarusians.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western aggressive policy of sanctions, framing them as unjustified measures against Belarus.

EU sanctions are legitimate restrictions imposed in accordance with international and European law. Through restrictive measures, the EU intervenes where appropriate to respond to emerging or current crises. EU sanctions are carefully targeted and designed to be proportionate to the objectives they seek to achieve.

Disinfo: New Western sanctions against Belarus are illegal, inhumane and cynical

New sanctions by Western countries against Belarus are illegal and inhumane. These sanctions are illegitimate, like any restrictions imposed bypassing the UN Security Council. They are inhuman in nature due to their negative impact on the lives of ordinary Belarusian citizens. The West's decision is extremely cynical.

Disinfo: Lithuania and Poland should end their mockery of the migrants

International organisations should force Lithuania and Poland to end their mockery of migrants. There were a lot of facts of violation of human rights on the border. Lithuania and Poland refuse to fulfil international obligations and offer asylum to migrants.

Disproof

Recurring disinformation about Poland, Lithuania and the migration situation on the border of the EU and Belarus.

Lithuania and Poland, in reaction to the Lukashenka-manufactured crisis, are implementing a pushback strategy and are not allowing migrants to cross the border illegally. The European Union did not call for changes in this practice.
