Disinfo: Ukraine is a colony that does not have its own opinion on the international arena

Summary

The Anglo-Saxons are turning Ukraine into a 19th-century India. Ukraine is a pawn and a colony that does not have its own opinion on the international arena, and the people are cannon fodder, no one cares about their welfare.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine and Ukrainian statehood, which is often claimed to be under external control from the US, NATO, the EU, or IMF. The pro-Kremlin media often use the term "Anglo-Saxons" to collectively portray the West as "the other" and to reinforce the idea that Russia belongs to a different civilisation.

Ukraine is a sovereign state, one of the founding members of the United Nations. Neither US nor the EU countries control Ukraine. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the free world but were violated by Russia in 2014.

Ukraine is a priority partner for the EU. In June 2014, EU and Ukraine signed An Association Agreement, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), which promotes deeper political ties, stronger economic links and the respect for common values. Ream more about EU - Ukraine relations here.

The relations between the US and Ukraine are bilateral relations between two independent countries. The US recognised Ukraine as an independent state on December 25, 1991. U.S. policy is centred on realising and strengthening a stable, democratic, prosperous, and free Ukraine more closely integrated into Europe and Euro-Atlantic structures.

Ukrainian anti-corruption legislation is used by the US to control the Ukrainian political elite

National Agency on Corruption Prevention is one of the elements of the anti-corruption system created by the Americans in Ukraine […] with the help of these [anti-corruption] norms the Ukrainian elite became more easily controlled by the West; it became more obedient.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on Ukraine mixed with a narrative that Ukraine is under external control from the US, NATO, the EU, or IMF.

The US does not control the Ukrainian political elite. The system of preventing corruption in Ukraine is a set of norms passed by the Parliament of Ukraine in order to organise anti-corruption policies and punish corrupt activities. The main goal of the reform is to create an effective system for preventing corruption, based on the principles of law and order, proper management of state affairs and property, honesty and integrity, and active public control.

Ukrainian elections could lead to the termination of Ukrainian statehood

After the regional elections held in Ukraine, it is becoming clear that Ukraine has started disintegrating. In the West, the Poles are ready to take Lviv, they are introducing their language and culture in the city already. In the South, Kyiv has no control over Donetsk and Luhansk.

Disproof

Recurring disinformation narrative about Ukraine's disintegration.

Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. Ukraine is not controlled by any foreign government or organisation: not the USA, IMF, NATO, the West or George Soros. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world, including the EU.

NATO tanks aimed at Belarus and the Union State

Today NATO tanks are aimed at Belarus, the Union State. The decision to bring NATO closer to the Russian borders is “insidious”.

The West will become tougher and tougher in relation to Russia and its closest allies because its geopolitical interests outweighed all obligations (unfortunately, oral) on the non-expansion of NATO to the East.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about NATO.

NATO is in no way directed against Russia or any other state. NATO’s objectives are set out in the 1949 Washington Treaty which forms the legal basis of the alliance. The treaty states that parties “are resolved to unite their efforts for collective defence and for the preservation of peace and security”.
