Disinfo: Ukraine is a vassal to the US, Nato and the EU

Summary

For the past five years, the Kiev-dominated Ukrainian state has been nothing but a puppet regime for Washington, NATO and to a lesser extent the European Union. It has served as a spearhead against Russia with vile provocations and slander. It is in fact an abomination of international law and democratic principles.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative, challenging Ukraine's statehood. Similar cases can be studied here, here and here.

Ukraine is a sovereign state, one of the founding members of the United Nations. Neither US, nor the EU countries in general or Germany in particular control Ukraine. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the free world, but were violated by Russia in 2014.

Ukraine will start issuing foreigners’ passports as in the Baltic states

The law strengthening the use of the Ukrainian language adopted by Kyiv proves that Ukraine is following the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian scenarios, which means that disloyal parts of the population are excluded from public life based on their languages. The next step will be issuing passports for foreigners, as in the Baltic countries.

Disproof

This message is consistent with a recurring disinformation narrative about Ukrainian statehood and human rights violated in Ukraine.

Alien's (non-citizen's) passports are issued in Estonia and Latvia. They were granted to the people who did not reside in the countries before their annexation by the Soviet Union in 1940, as well as to their descendants, in case they did not successfully pass exams proving proficiency in the state languages and knowledge of the countries' history.

Ukraine is a colony of the US

The Ukrainian government practically deprived Donbas and Luhansk of voting rights. Ukraine is a colony of the US.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation conspiracy about Ukraine's relations with the US and Ukraine's statehood.

The election took place in the context of ongoing armed conflict and other hostilities in the east of the country and the illegal annexation of the Crimean peninsula by the Russian Federation.  As a consequence, the election could not be organised in Crimea and certain parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions that are controlled by illegal armed groups. People from Luhansk and Donetsk occupied territories could vote - but they would have to travel from occupied territories to land controlled by the Ukraine government.

Ukrainian side does not abide by the Minsk agreements

Ukraine does not abide by the Minsk Agreements which set up the obligations to stop the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Kyiv government sabotaging peace in the Donbas region, see previous cases about the Minsk agreements and the war in Ukraine.

In many cases, separatist of the self-proclaimed DNR and LNR violated the Minsk agreements, not the Ukrainian side, with the so-called elections organised there in February 2018 as one of the examples.
