DISINFO: Ukraine is a Western project directed against Russia
SUMMARY
Western countries recreated Ukraine as an anti-Russian project whose purpose is to start a conflict with Russia. It even oppresses its ethnic Russian citizens as evident by Ukraine adopting the law “On the indigenous peoples of Ukraine.” Ukraine is currently a militarised country ruled from outside, Ukraine does not respect Minsk agreements.

Western countries did not cause a deterioration of relations between Ukraine and Russia, Russia itself entered into confrontation with Kyiv when it illegally occupied and annexed the Crimean Peninsula, and subsequently supported a pro-Russian separatist uprising in Donbas region, even deploying Russian troops. Moreover, Western countries such as France and Germany are supporting peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, with both countries participating in the Minsk protocol and Normandy Contact Group.
The Report of the Special Rapporteur on minority issues on her mission to Ukraine (OHCHR) did not perceive the gradual decline in the influence of Russian language as an indication of discrimination or human rights violations. Although the report recommends strengthening minority rights' protection in the context of political and social unrest since 2014, it states that the legislative and policy framework and environment for the protection of minorities are consistent with the provision of the Declaration on the rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities. In addition, Ukraine´s legislation on “indigenous peoples of Ukraine” does not violate the rights of Russians living in Ukraine, it aims to protect the rights of Crimean Tatars, Krymchaks and Karaites living in annexed Crimea.
The claim that Ukraine is governed externally is unsubstantiated, Ukraine is an internationally recognised sovereign state with its own constitution, democratically elected parliament and president. Western countries did not militarise Ukraine, the increase in military spending must be viewed as a Ukrainian response to Russian aggression mentioned in the first paragraph.
