Disinfo: Ukraine is preparing a military escalation in Donbas

Summary

Despite false statements about the desire for peace, Ukraine is openly preparing for an escalation of the conflict in Donbas. The first evidence is an attempt to buy military trash from benefactors, thereby making Western manufacturers happy and freeing up space in their landfills. The second is Ukraine's jubilation over another handout of $125 million, which was announced at the Pentagon. The third one manifests itself in calls for war and killings, together with the blocking of TV channels that opposed the Ukrainian aggression in Donbas.

Ukraine is not preparing a military escalation in Donbas. The Ukrainian government has mentioned numerous times that Ukraine is not interested in the war in Donbas and prefers to settle the conflict by peaceful political means. The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine believes that the Minsk agreements is the only option to end the war in Donbas.

A $125 million military aid package for Ukraine was announced on Monday, 1 March 2021. The package is directed at improving Ukraine's defence capabilities and does not finance the purchase of offensive weapons. It includes two Mark VI patrol boats, “capabilities to enhance the lethality, command and control, and situational awareness of Ukraine’s forces through the provision of additional counter-artillery radars and tactical equipment; continued support for a satellite imagery and analysis capability; and equipment to support military medical treatment and combat evacuation procedures."

Recurring disinformation narrative about vaccination, presenting the vaccines approved by WHO as not so efficient as Russian Sputnik V. See here a similar case claiming that Moldovan doctors refuse to be vaccinated, in general, against COVID-19.

The claim comes as two groups of doctors from the Gagauz autonomy of the Republic of Moldova asked the Ministry of Health not to send them AstraZeneca vaccines, donated by Romania, as there are no people willing to be vaccinated. The text quotes the head of the hospital in Ceadir-Lunga with the statement: “Our team agrees to be vaccinated. But they want either Pfizer or Sputnik V.”

Disinfo: Russia already destroyed its chemical stockpile, the US didn’t

The United States assumed the role of a warrior to "prohibit the production" of chemical weapons, despite the fact that Russia had fulfilled its obligations several years ago to get rid of chemical weapons, and the United States, which took upon itself obligations, did not fulfil them, and these chemical weapons are still in its possession and have not been destroyed.

In September 2017, the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) did in fact confirm the full destruction of the 39,967 tonnes of chemical weapons possessed by Russia, but Novichoks were never declared to the OPCW and were not included in the Chemical Weapons Convention until 2019. Russia is a member of OPCW.
