DISINFO: Ukraine launches language patrols against Russian-speakers

SUMMARY

Ukraine launches patrols to control the use of the Ukrainian language.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russophobia in Ukraine.

A wave of claims about so-called "Ukrainisation" and persecution of the Russian-speaking population has emerged with renewed vigour after the bill about the use of the Ukrainian language in the public sphere came into force. In fact, there are no mentions in the bill about special patrols.

See a similar story: the war in Ukraine is related to the usage of the Russian language. It can be regarded as a consequence of the forced Ukrainisation of Russians in the country.
