Disinfo: Ukrainian authorities allowed Nazis' demostrations

Summary

Nationalists in Kiev celebrated the 77th anniversary of the creation of a Nazi Waffen SS battalion made up of Ukrainian volunteers. The Ukrainian authorities facilitated this, with the local police seeming to have closed the road to allow the demonstrations to continue.

Disproof

Recurring disinformation narrative about the alleged widespread influence of Nazism in Ukraine. However, as far as the described demonstration is concerned, the Ukrainian authorities issued specific orders and the symbols used were not related with Nazism.

The myth of Nazi-ruled Ukraine has been a cornerstone of Russian disinformation about the country since the very beginning of the 2013-14 Euromaidan protests, when it was used to discredit the pro-European popular uprising in Kyiv and, subsequently, the broader pro-Western shift in Ukraine's foreign policy. Far-right groups enjoyed a very limited presence during the Euromaidan itself and had poor results in the 2014 presidential and parliamentary elections. In the 2019 election, far-right candidates scored very low (1-2%) and fell short of the 5% minimum guaranteeing entry into parliament.

The Nazi and Communist ideologies were banned by a Ukrainian law in 2015.

Read similar cases claiming that Fascism conquered most of Ukraine, that Ukraine is a neo-Nazi state and that pro-Western civil society in Ukraine is a fascist fifth column; and that Europe supports the revival of fascism.

Disinfo: The Pentagon has launched a compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military

While the American public avoids US vaccines, the Pentagon has launched a forced and compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military that is facing massive resistance.

Disproof

The article’s claims are consistent with a pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting US and Western vaccines and vaccination efforts.

It is not true that the American public is avoiding US vaccines, nor that the Pentagon has launched a compulsory vaccination campaign among the US military.

Disinfo: Zelenskyy mounts escalation in Donbas to draw Biden’s attention

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is mounting escalation in Donbas to draw the attention of US President Joe Biden.

Disproof

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin media, claiming that Ukraine fulfils orders from the United States and NATO and that the West is using Ukraine as a bridgehead for an attack on Russia. In reality, Ukraine closely cooperates with the United States, the European Union and NATO, but this does not mean that what pro-Kremlin media call “the collective West” is pushing Kyiv into direct confrontation against Moscow. Ukraine’s Western partners are helping Ukraine stop the bloodshed in Donbas and alleviate the suffering of civilians in the war zone. They were mediators when the Minsk Agreements were signed in 2014 and 2015.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on 5 May 2021. He said in a tweet:

Disinfo: Czechia is ruled by American and British intelligence agencies

(The Czech Republic has now announced the results of the investigations into the 2014 explosion) ... because the authority in Czechia and its security services are subordinate to the American and British agencies.

Czechia has now taken this step after it responded to American pressure and dictates because it couldn't say no. It is known .. that Czech intelligence is directly subordinate to its American counterpart, not to President Milos Zeman.

It is clear that the Czech Republic today cannot take its own decisions and is not independent and that is why its relationship with Russia has deteriorated. And now its relationship is following a path dictated by the West, especially the United States of America.

Disproof

An unsubstantiated pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Vrbětice ammunition warehouse bombings in the Czech Republic, attempting to ridicule the revelations about the GRU's involvement by launching groundless claims that the actions of Prague were due to Western and US pressure.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš and the temporary Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Hamáček announced on 17 April 2021 that the Czech intelligence services collected evidence demonstrating Russian involvement in the 2014 Vrbětice explosion.
