DISINFO: US agents attempt to overthrow Lukashenka along the Ukrainian scenario

SUMMARY

Over the past years, American special bodies have introduced their agents in the Belarusian governing institutions and use them to overthrow Alyaksandr Lukashenka along the Ukrainian scenario and capture the state power. US agents attempt to manipulate Lukashenka to bring discord in his relations with Russia. The Belarusian authorities should talk less about alleged covert Russian actions and rather expose and arrest US agents.

RESPONSE

This is a conspiracy consistent with a recurring pro-Kremlin propaganda narrative about the West's attempts to disrupt Belarus-Russia relations through various actions, this time with the use of secret agents among high-ranking officials. No proof whatsoever is given to support this claim. The article implicitly claims that the West overthrew former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich, which supports another propaganda narrative about the Western-staged coup d'état in Ukraine. In fact, the spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was a reaction from several segments of the Ukrainian population to former President Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013, after pressure from Russia. See the full debunk - The Western-backed coup in Ukraine has torn the country asunder. See earlier disinformation cases alleging that Belarusian opposition leaders prepare a coup with US military assistance, that the West dreams of tearing Belarus apart from Russia and to organise a Ukraine-like scenario, that Belarusian opposition leader Andrei Sannikau prepares a coup with US military assistance, and that pro-Western Belarusian opposition prepares a revolution with the assistance of armed Ukrainian nationalists.
