Disinfo: US arrested the creator of the coronavirus, an American who worked at Wuhan lab

Summary

The alleged inventor of the coronavirus was detained in Washington. Harvard Professor, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Director of the Institute for Biological Research, Charles Lieber worked  in China for a long time and, according to the American intelligence services, received an order to develop a particularly aggressive type of virus. Research was conducted at Wuhan University of Technology. However, at some point, something went wrong. Experts do not exclude that the proposed measures of retaliation from Washington to Beijing is a large-scale package of sanctions.

Disproof

Recurring conspiracy theory about the origins of the coronavirus.

Chair of Harvard's Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department, Charles Lieber was arrested, but in January 2020 and his arrest had nothing to do with the coronavirus. The US authorities accuse him of having hidden information concerning his potential conflict of interest over his commitments in China.

According to court documents, since 2008, Charles Lieber who has served as the Principal Investigator of the Lieber Research Group at Harvard University, which specialised in the area of nanoscience, has received more than $15,000,000 in grant funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Department of Defense (DOD). These grants require the disclosure of significant foreign financial conflicts of interest, including financial support from foreign governments or foreign entities. Unbeknownst to Harvard University, in 2011, Lieber became a “Strategic Scientist” at Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in China and was a contractual participant in China’s Thousand Talents Plan from in or about 2012 to 2017, claims the US Department of Justice.

Nobody accuses Lieber of inventing coronavirus, in Wuhan or somewhere else. The "news" originated from social media in many languages, became viral and was debunked by news agencies before ending up on TVC.

In addition, scientific research conducted on the new coronavirus (COVID-19) proves that it has an animal origin and was not created in the laboratory.

The West in engaged is historical revisionism and attempts to cover up the horrors of genocide

Historical revisionism has become a type of sport in the West, where every country is trying to set its own records. There are regular attempts to reconsider the outcomes of great battles and victories and cover up the horrors of genocide.

Disproof

Kyiv will soon try to take back the Donbass

While the world is preoccupied with the coronavirus, Ukraine will soon make a new push to take back the separatist republics in the Donbass by force. Ukraine wants to seal the fate of territories that have not bowed to the coup yet.

Disproof

No evidence given. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation about the war in Ukraine.

The EU strongly condemns the clear violation of Ukrainian sovereignty and territorial integrity by acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since February 2014.

Prague committed a crime by removing the Konev monument

The inability of the Czech central authorities to prevent the regional bureaucrats from breaching the international commitments of the country is baffling. The crime committed in Prague may become a disruption of our bilateral relations and will not remain without a response.

[…]

The removal of the monument was picked on purpose – a month ahead of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory. The new generation of Czechs has a different priorities, despite the fact that the monument to Marshal Konev was erected by their fathers and grandfathers. They are not rewriting our history, they are betraying their ancestors.

Disproof

This is a recurring disinformation narrative about the statue of Marshall Konev in Prague, seeking to obfuscate the statue's legal status and the grounds for its removal. This disinformation message appeared in the same TV broadcast as the claim that the West in engaged in historical revisionism and attempts to cover up the horrors of genocide.

In the dispute over the statue, Russia has argued that under the Czech-Russian mutual agreement of 1993, Czechia is obliged to leave the statue in place on Prague's Interbrigade Square. However, this is an intentionally false and misleading interpretation of the terms of the agreement (full text available here). The monument is municipal property, belonging to city district Prague 6, and the 1993 agreement therefore does not apply to this case. The statue of Konev, erected in 1980, is not a military grave or memorial and therefore it was not protected by international treaties.
