Disinfo: US election result was rigged by mail voting

Summary

A month has passed and the world is still waiting for the official announcement of the US presidential election results. It is difficult to understand what kind of democracy this is. However, some insist there is a winner. He was proclaimed by TV stations and NGOs. In the era of “rule of law” and “bourgeois democracy”, the verdict of American people was not decided by the ballot boxes but by the boxes of the US post offices, as minors, citizens who had never been registered to vote, and dead people voted.

Disproof

This report is part of a recurring pro-Kremlin media narrative that the US democracy is an illusion, the election was fraudulent, and thus the US has no right to lecture others about human rights or democracy.

The claims that the US Presidential elections faced an “enormous number of irregularities” and was not properly managed, especially because of mail voting, is not supported by evidence. The OSCE Observation Mission states that the 2020 Presidential elections vote was “competitive and well managed”. Read more OSCE statements on the American elections here.

Furthermore, US authorities and more specifically the FBI have repeatedly said that the possibility of mail-in voting fraud is nearly impossible. Even with the unlikely massive participation of postal service workers, a fraud of this kind would not be feasible since the ballots are printed on a very specific stock and often have specific tracking systems like bar codes

Additional relevant examples of the same narratives can be found in our database, such as claims that the result doesn’t matter because the real ruler is the Deep State; that the Guardian exposed how US Democrats exploited mail-in voting irregularities; that an oligarch-sponsored insurrection against the people will take place around election day; or that the US is on the verge of a civil war, and militias are only a reaction against government abuse.

Russia is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict

In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LPR and DPR, which declared independence after the coup d’etat in Ukraine in February of the same year. According to the latest UN data, about 13 thousand people became victims of the conflict. Kyiv has repeatedly accused the Russian Federation of intervening in the conflict in the region. Russia denies these charges. Moscow has stated more than once that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and is interested in seeing Kyiv overcome the political and economic crisis.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the war in Ukraine, attempting to portray it as a civil war.

There is irrefutable evidence of direct Russian military involvement in eastern Ukraine.

NATO membership will lead Ukraine to disintegration

Ukraine’s entry into the North Atlantic Alliance will lead to the disintegration of its own statehood. As a result, part of Ukraine’s territory will turn into a security buffer between NATO and the Russian Federation.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about NATO and Ukraine with no evidence given. This message is an example of a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine being abandoned by its Western partners and the disintegration of Ukraine.

Ukraine is a priority partner for the EU and NATO. Its sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost all the world. Neither the EU nor NATO are planning to turn Ukraine into a security buffer.

The US wants to meddle in Russian internal affairs

The US wants to enhance the disintegration process in Russia by putting pressure on Russia’s central authorities and encouraging conflict within Russian society. The West is interested to have a severe Belarusian crisis which in turn will lead to a political crisis and a change of government in Russia, thus harming both countries.

Disproof

A recurring disinformation narrative about Western interference in Russian affairs, specifically through provoking a “colour revolution” or a Belarusian crisis in order to destabilise Russia.

The claim that the US wants to meddle in Russian internal affairs in order to cause a change of government is not supported by evidence.
