Disinfo: US has only two parties running for president

Summary

The US (presidential) election is a theatrical “parade,” presented as an example of democracy, in which … only two parties present their candidates.

Disproof

A disinformation message related to the presidential elections in the United States.

President Donald Trump and his Democratic contender Joe Biden have dominated headlines in the months leading up to the US election day. But those two are not the only names that appeared on presidential ballots in states across the country.

Third parties have been small players throughout U.S. presidential politics.

According to the “Federal Election Commission” in The States, there are over 150 - active - third-party and independent candidates running for President in at least one state, this year.

Among those are Jo Jorgensen running for president as a candidate of the Libertarian Party who received the second-highest number of votes in the party’s 49-year history, beating the Trump-Biden margin in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin.

Another name that appeared in the media surrounding the US election is rapper Kanye West who tallied around 60,000 votes across the 12 states while running as a candidate of the "Birthday Party".

The West demands Ukraine stops coal mining

The Government of the United Kingdom demanded that Ukraine completely stops mining coal and using it to generate electricity. The Acting Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Olha Buslavets spoke about this.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukrainian statehood.

The Acting Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Olha Buslavets has commented on an offer to join to Powering Past Coal Alliance:

Security Service of Ukraine imposed the theory that MH17 was shot down by a Russian BUK

The Security Service of Ukraine imposed a theory on the international investigation team that the MH17 plane was allegedly shot down by the Russian BUK air defence system, driven from one of the military units of the Russian Armed Forces.

Disproof

One of the numerous unfounded conspiracy theories attempting to discredit the work of the Joint International Investigation on the downing of the flight MH17.

The Joint Investigation Team (JIT), is comprised of Dutch Public Prosecution Service officials and the Dutch police, along with police and criminal justice authorities from Australia, Belgium, Malaysia and Ukraine. It is not possible for Ukraine to impose 'a theory' on a professional multinational criminal investigation team.

The people of Crimea voted in a democratic and legal way for reunification with Russia

Crimea returned to Russia after a referendum in March 2014, in which the vast majority of the electorate in the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol voted to join Russia.

Crimean authorities held a referendum in the wake of a coup in Ukraine in February 2014. Ukraine still considers Crimea to be its own.

The Russian leadership has repeatedly stated that the people of Crimea voted in a democratic way for reunification with Russia within the framework of international laws and the United Nations Charter.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the illegal annexation of Crimea. No international body recognises the so-called referendum, announced 27th of February and held less than three weeks later.

On March 27th, 2014, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution in which it stated that the referendum in Crimea was not valid and could not serve as a basis for any change in the status of the peninsula.
