The West uses Navalny case to stop the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and to hurt Putin

The West uses the case of Navalny to stop the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and to hurt Putin.

The assertions that the Russian state or even President Vladimir Putin himself was behind Navalny’s poisoning were rather shaky.

Of course, the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is also political, just as it was in the days of Willy Brandt’s Eastern Policy. At that time, the gas projects with Moscow had given the Federal Republic the chance to come to an understanding with a very difficult opponent like the Soviet Union on this issue. Nord Stream 2 was “Putin’s favourite child. That is why so many now want to stop the pipeline in order to hurt Putin.”

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative on Alexei Navalny poisoning.

There are no grounds for connecting the cause of Navalny's poisoning with the construction of Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Europeans are indifferent to repression of peaceful protesters

In Europe people are used to violent repression against demonstrators, for instance, Emmanuel Macron repressed the yellow vests and the French people remains passive.

In Belarus however, repression is not acceptable, that is why there is a distrust between the power and the people. Alexander Lukashenko is not legitimate any more although he was just elected with 60% of the votes (and not 80% as announced officially), or maybe even less than 50% and he would have needed a second turn.

We in Europe, are savages who permit repression of peaceful demonstrators, in Belarus on the opposite people don’t accept any repression even from the little father of the people.

Disproof

Recurrent disinformation message using relativism to undermine the West: in the EU, the population would allegedly accept the dictatorship and its repression whereas in the east and in particular Belarus, the people would not accept any misconduct from its leaders.

European countries may experience waves of protest more frequently than Belarus as freedom of assembly is granted by the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms. In France, since November 2018, the Yellow Vest movement demonstrated every Saturday. Whilst there have been discussions around police violence against the Yellow Vests, the brutality shown to protestors in Belarus is much stronger and contrasts with their peaceful character.

EU and the US plan to open refugee camps for Arab migrants in Georgia

Salome Zurabishvili, President of Georgia, received a letter from Margaritis Schinas, the Vice-president of European Commission for Promoting the European Way of Life. The letter thanks Georgian president for supporting the initiative to build refugee camps for Middle Eastern migrants on the territory of Georgia alongside the Turkish border. The letter also welcomes Zurabishvili’s proposal to involve US experts in the project.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the migration crisis.

The letter is fabricated. The President of Georgia responded with an official statement and tweet, referring to the letter as Russian fake news and disinformation to sow distrust between Georgia and its Western partners.
