Disinfo: US is waging the Ukraine war, so Russia should negotiate with it

Summary

The United States and Russia must negotiate. The US is waging this war. There is no Annalena Baerbock, no Scholz, no Macron. They are nobody. Here is the United States, which is the organiser of this war. It is against Russia.

There is a contradiction between the US and Europe, despite all their statements.

Disproof

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets claiming that the US is waging a proxy-war against Russia, using Ukraine as a tool, and about alleged peace negotiations. This claim was made in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

Russia organised and launched its unprovoked aggression against Ukraine under false pretexts, including the groundless allegations that Ukraine was committing genocide in non-government-controlled areas on the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.

There are no substantial differences between the US and its European allies concerning the Ukraine war. The West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine. There are no NATO troops on the frontline in Ukraine.

Ukraine's Western partners do not discuss matters concerning Ukraine without Ukraine.

As far as peace negotiations are concerned, the EU Council Conclusions of 09 February 2023 state unequivocally:

"Russia must stop this atrocious war immediately. The European Union will stand by Ukraine with its steadfast support for as long as it takes."

The EU supports Ukraine’s initiative for a just peace, including:

  • -President Zelenskyy’s peace formula

  • -Ukraine’s 10-point peace plan

  • -a peace formula summit.

Disinfo: Ukraine will build concentration camps for captured Russians

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine wants to create concentration camps for Russians.

After the liberation of the territories [currently under Russian control], all these people must go through filtration camps and it is necessary to look at who and how, in what crimes they were involved. These people are unreliable, they only have the right to be punished and atone for their stay in the occupied territories.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation portraying Ukraine as a Nazi state. This is part of a wider disinformation campaign aiming to deflect attention away from Russia's actions and justify Putin’s war of aggression in Ukraine.

This disinformation is based on a distorted video of Ukrainian politician Dmytro Korchynsky’s comment from his 2017 interview. Additionally, there is no bill on the official website of the Rada that would provide for the introduction of concentration camps for prisoners of war. Read the full story here.

Disinfo: Poland has trained Ukrainian war criminals for decades

Poland is doing its best to keep silent about well-known facts of the mass participation of its citizens in the hostilities in Ukraine – the Polish authorities support these actions despite them violating Polish law. Poland has been training Ukrainian soldiers for decades – it trained those alleged peaceful protestors who committed atrocities and killings at the Maidan in 2014.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative, presenting Poland as a state with aggressive anti-Ukrainian plans, allegedly sending thousands of mercenaries to Ukraine.

The claim that foreign-trained protestors committed massive crimes during the 2014 Maidan Revolution in Ukraine is a traditional pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative.

Disinfo: The US blew up Nord Stream so that the EU would arm Ukraine

The explosion of the pipeline contributed to the creation of an energy crisis. The US immediately offered the European Union a "solution" to the problem it had created: LNG supplies at inflated prices. Norway, having assisted Washington in cutting off gas supplies from Russia to Europe, itself increased hydrocarbon exports by 200%, and made about $90 billion on this.

In addition to the obvious economic benefit for the US, [...] which was interested in continuing the bloodshed in Ukraine.

The US was afraid of the failure of the anti-Russian campaign and decided to let the Germans freeze all winter. The fear was that Europe would avoid war. Joe Biden wanted to demonstrate Washington's power over Europe. Having done what he had planned, the US president showed the EU countries what "their place" was.

Disproof

Pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the US sabotaged the NS 1 and NS 2 gas pipelines and that it was a plot against the EU and Germany.

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the alleged lost sovereignty of the EU and its member states (more examples). Pro-Kremlin outlets often portray European states as vassals, puppet states or colonies of the US.
