Disinfo: The US will use Uighur jihadists against China

Summary

The US has removed the designation of the East Turkestan Islamic Movement as a terrorist organisation. Washington wants to use the group, linked to terrorist organisations all over the world including Al Qaeda, as a weapon to destabilise China. It is likely that there is cooperation between the Turkish and US secret services to support the ETIM actions both in Syria and in China. As in many other countries, the US uses insurrection movements to destabilise its adversaries, in this case China. What is remarkable in this case is that the ETIM has been allied since its origin with Al Qaeda, while the US seem to pretend to ignore those links.

Disproof

Recurrent disinformation narrative about the US supporting terrorist movements around the world. No evidence is provided to support the claim.

It is correct that on November 6, 2020, the US removed the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM) from its Terrorist Exclusion List, which prohibits members of terrorist groups from entering or remaining in the US but this is different from being designated as a foreign terrorist organisation, which carries more substantial penalties including financial sanctions. But contrary to the claim, this removal doesn’t mean at all that the US is going to support this movement in terrorist actions against China.

See other examples of this disinformation narrative, such as claims that the West is supporting terrorists to encircle Russia; that the EU is supporting terrorism against the Syrian state; that instead of killing ISIS leader Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the US may have evacuated him; that the US is transporting ISIS members to Afghanistan; or that extremists and Nazis are being trained in Ukraine to act in Belarus.

Poland and Lithuania send Belarusian opposition instructions on how to make explosives

Many forces in the West want the tense situation in Belarus to continue taking place. Not only money is transferred to Belarus from Warsaw and Vilnius, but also instructions on how to make incendiary mixtures and explosives, such as Molotov cocktails. Unfortunately, the opposition, which is currently operating from Warsaw and Vilnius, does not want any dialogue – it has no constructive political programme apart from overthrowing President Lukashenka and the organisation of new Presidential elections.

Disproof

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus and to disrupt Belarusian-Russian relations.

The claims that Poland and Lithuania are trying to “organise a colour revolution in Belarus” or that they “send instructions to Belarus on how to make explosives” is a conspiracy theory. Lithuania and Poland are neighbours of Belarus and continue to support the Belarusian people. Poland and Lithuania respect the principles of international law and do not intervene in the domestic affairs of other countries.

Biden will cause problems for Russia in Ukraine, Syria, Libya and the South Caucasus

The team of Biden is set primarily against Russia – it means that the USA will continue to create problems for Russia in Ukraine, Syria, Libya and the South Caucasus. Anything that is bad for Russia is good for America. The US will hinder any cooperation between Moscow and Berlin. The anti-Russian foreign policy will continue to be a priority for the United States. Washington will not be interested in the opinion of the Europeans.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative accusing the US authorities of Russophobia and plans to implement aggressive anti-Russian policies all over the world – this narrative should be perceived as a conspiracy theory. The pro-Kremlin media outlets actively spread the message that the US allegedly pursue a belligerent and hostile agenda against Russia.

The US authorities have repeatedly criticised Russia for destructive effects coming from the Russian military interventions in Ukraine, Syria, Libya and Georgia. CIA will try to repeat a Maidan scenario in Belarus

The vital interests of the American Capital and personal involvement of Joe Biden in the coup d’etat in Ukraine show that once again, Eastern Europe will become the area for American expansion. Such countries as Poland and Romania will be the vanguard of Americanism in the region. Eastern Europe is important for the USA due to the following reasons: cooperation with the countries of the region in order to limit competition coming from the EU; such countries as Belarus and Russia are still not colonised; Russia is still able to resist to the USA. In this situation, the most probable area of increased American interference will be Belarus or Ukraine.

Belarus has managed to defend itself from the failed Maidan, poorly organised by Poland and Lithuania – this time, the CIA may try to repeat this scenario. In Ukraine, the USA is worried about the growing popularity of the pro-Russian parties, so it will try to stop this process at all cost.

The claim that Poland and Lithuania are trying to "organise a colour revolution in Belarus" is also a conspiracy theory. Lithuania and Poland are neighbours of Belarus and continue to support the Belarusian people.
