Disinfo: USA, NATO and EU want to dictate to the people of Belarus a regime-change

Summary

Above all the USA and NATO – with active participation of the EU – want to use the situation in connection with this year’s  presidential elections in Belarus to further change the situation in their favour. They believe that they can use the internal difficulties Belarus is facing to intervene in order to further promote the balance of power in their favor not only in Belarus and in the region directly bordering on Russia, but in the whole of Europe. They are trying to dictate to the people of Belarus the rules according to which both regime change in Belarus, and change in the sense of creating more favourable conditions for the realisation of the anti-Russian goals, should take place.

Disproof

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus. Neither NATO, nor USA, nor the EU dictate to the people of Belarus rules for a regime-change in Belarus.

It should be noted that the recent presidential elections were considered neither free nor fair by the EU. "State authorities deployed disproportionate and unacceptable violence causing at least one death and many injuries. Thousands of people were detained and the crackdown on freedoms of assembly, media and expression intensified. We call on the Belarusian authorities to release immediately and unconditionally all detained. Furthermore, credible reports of domestic observers show that the electoral process did not meet the international standards expected of an OSCE participating State."

In the past, the EU and US repeatedly introduced sanctions against Belarusian officials for mass violations of human rights and electoral standards, they have not attempted to stage a colour revolution in Belarus or any other country. In its statement of 11 August EU High Representative calls upon Belarus's authorities "to initiate a genuine and inclusive dialogue with broader society to avoid further violence."

Read earlier disinformation cases alleging that Poland is preparing Euromaidan scenario for Belarus, that Belarus will turn anti-Russia in case it does not deepen integration with Russia, that the West's only interest in Belarus is to make it anti-Russian, and that the US plans to turn Belarus into its colony, a coup and foreign military invasion may happen.

Other cases alleging that the West is helping to destabilise the situation in Belarus before the election, that US agents attempt to overthrow Lukashenka along the Ukrainian scenario, that the West dreams of tearing Belarus apart from Russia and to organise a Ukraine-like scenario, and that pro-Western Belarusian opposition prepares a revolution with the assistance of armed Ukrainian nationalists.

The actions of the protesters in Belarus are controlled by foreign centers

The actions of the protesters in Belarus are controlled by foreign centers, they also finance opposition activists, provide them with information support.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Belarus protests and, in general, about protests in post-communist countries, presenting them as being organised and controlled from abroad.

Neither in the text nor elsewhere there is no any evidence that the West or other foreign forces are involved in any way in the protests in Belarus. Large-scale protests began in Minsk on August 9 against the results of the presidential election, and then in other cities. People revolted against what they call election fraud but also against the aggressiveness of the police, who arrested and ill-treated hundreds of rally participants.

Colour revolution methodology used in Belarus

… Observers believe that there is real evidence, [that] mechanisms and ideologies adopted during the colour revolutions in Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine, [are] lurking Belarus today.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Belarus and colour revolutions.

The protests in Belarus erupted to contest the results of the presidential election in Belarus on the 9th of August, which are considered fraudulent by a large part of Belarusian society. The European Union has also stated that the elections were neither free nor fair.

A paid colour revolution is going on in Belarus

Once again, despite being exposed, US imperialism is trying its miserable attempts with brutal hegemony to launch its paid colour “revolutions” from the Baltic and Black Sea to the shores of the Mediterranean …! And the attention today is pointed towards all theaters of the soft war operations with the power and focus on Belarus …!

In spite of the disinformation efforts of the American-European media machine / NATO, which are trying to portray what is happening in the former Soviet Republic of Belarus as a struggle between the legitimate president Aliaksander Lukashenka and the housewife Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya, […], the aim that the United States and its European tails are trying to achieve in this country have nothing to do with democracy, nor with any other noble humanitarian goal whatsoever.
