Disinfo: USAID has started 'manipulating' teachers from Russian schools in Moldova

Summary

USAID (the US government agency for international development) wants to manipulate Russian school teachers in Moldova. USAID openly advertises on social media their intent to "train" teachers in Moldova, focusing on those who teach in Russian schools.

Disproof

Recurring disinformation narrative about the foreign influence - from the EU and the US - on the countries of the former USSR. The article itself promotes a manipulative and misleading message trying to imply hidden intentions of USAID.

In fact, the announcement in question is about a training programme funded by USAID, proposed by the NGO Center for Independent Journalism, for teachers who want to teach optional subjects in media education in schools. This course has been taught in schools in the Republic of Moldova as an optional matter since 2018 and it is also open to Russian speaking teachers and students.

The media education course aims to teach students about the role and power of the media in a democratic society and to be aware of the dangers online by adopting responsible behaviour and becoming responsible media creators, as it is mentioned in the Curriculum for VII-VIII year students, adopted in 2018 by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova.

See here a similar case claiming that the high school media literacy course in Moldova aims to remove all Russian information from the informational space of Moldova.

Disinfo: Democratic development of Ukraine suspended after coup instigated by the West

After denazification and demilitarisation, Ukraine will return to peaceful development. The evolution of the country's democratic development came to a halt in February 2014, after an anti-constitutional coup d'état at the instigation of the West.

After the completion of the operation, the EU and the West will have to realise how tragic the consequences are of pumping money and weapons to the aggressive neo-Nazi regime in the center of Europe.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the Euromaidan. This is consistent with the narrative about popular protests around the world which claims that they are incited and funded by Western states, including colour revolutions in post-Soviet states, Euromaidan in Ukraine, protests in Catalonia and others. This claim is part of the disinformation campaign related to the ongoing unjustified and unprovoked Russian military invasion of Ukraine.

There was no coup d'état in Ukraine. The spontaneous onset of the Euromaidan protests was an organic reaction by numerous parts of the Ukrainian population to former President Yanukovych’s sudden departure from the promised Association Agreement with the European Union in November 2013. Disinfo: The West needs Ukraine as a battering ram against Russia

The West needs Ukraine as a "geopolitical battering ram" against Russia, which is why the Ukrainian side receives money, weapons and ammunition from them, which they use to continue killing civilians.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative, challenging Ukraine's statehood and trying to blame the West for the Russian invasion of Ukraine by painting Ukraine as a puppet of the West.

Ukraine is a sovereign state with a democratically elected government and its own foreign and security policy. The country is not controlled by the US, EU or any other foreign organisation or government. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the world but have been violated by Russia since 2014. Western countries are only supporting lethal military aid and financial aid to Ukraine for the country’s efficient self-defence against the unprovoked Russian invasion.

Disinfo: West nurtures Russophobia, should understand its harmfulness

Russia is surprised by the fact that Western leaders are nurturing Russophobia. They should understand the harmfulness of their actions. A pretext can always be found because the West aims at deterring Russia rather than solving a concrete problem.

Disproof

This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin media accusing the West of a biased attitude toward Russia.

In reality, the West has always been calling for solving all problems with Russia in a peaceful and diplomatic manner. Western nations do not pose a threat to Moscow. It is Russia that has continually been trying to achieve its goals by military means, which is a violation of international law. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine which started on February 24 2022 made Western nations take a tougher stand on Russia and impose more sanctions on Moscow and certain Russian individuals.
