Disinfo: Washington is preparing a Venezuelan scenario for Hungary

Summary

Hungary opposes the EU sanctions against Russia, but the Unites States will force Hungary to submit to the political line, set up by Washington. Otherwise, a Venezuelan scenario might await Budapest. This can be worse than the demonstrations, staged recently by Billionaire George Soros.

The Coup d’Etat-Scenario we are witnessing in Venezuela has the characteristics of the way the US and its allies interfere in other countries. One can not exclude a similar course of action in order to forge a regime change in Hungary.

Disproof

No evidence given for this conspiracy theory, broadcast by Russian State media. Hungary stands, like all EU member states, behind the sanctions against Russia introduced after the illegal annexation of Crimea, and the sanctions set up after the shooting down of the Malaysian passenger plane MH17 and the Skripal Case. The sanctions regimes have been set up in open, transparent processes, where Hungary, like all EU member states, have a say.

Consistent with pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about sanctions imposed on Russia.

Disinfo: RT is classified as "not credible" by CIA-designed web feature

Browser extension Newsguard, designed by people like the former chief of the CIA, marks in green good news web sites and in red the doubtful ones. RT.com and Sputnik are branded “Not Credible”.

Disproof

On the advisory board of Newsguard, there is, indeed, one former director of the CIA. The team is composed of dozens of media professionals and media managers of different outlets. Other organisations have also found RT not living up to standards. The British media regulator, Ofcom, has published their findings on the shortcomings of the credibility of the RT. Disinfo: "Crimean scenario for Venezuela" under EU's pressure

EU’s ultimatum to Nicolas Maduro will lead to a “Crimean scenario for Venezuela”. EU is now asking for elections in Venezuela, but if it is unhappy with the results, it may refuse to recognize them, just as it refused to recognize the outcome and the will of Crimean people.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the EU allegedly meddling into elections in third countries. See for example here, here, and here. In the declaration on behalf of the EU on the situation in Venezuela the High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, called "for the urgent holding of free, transparent and credible presidential elections". "The presidential elections last May in Venezuela were neither free, fair, nor credible, lacking democratic legitimacy", added Mogherini, emphasising that "the EU stands with the Venezuelan people in this critical hour". The disinformation message also contains recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the West and Crimea. Crimean referendum was organised by a self-proclaimed Crimean leadership installed by armed Russian military personnel following the seizure of public buildings. Russia violated international law as well as key principles of the European security framework by illegally annexing the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol. The European Union does not recognise and continues to strongly condemn this violation of international law, which remains a challenge to the international security order. This position is based on the UN Charter, which clearly states that the territory of a State cannot be acquired by another State resulting from the threat or use of force, as well as on the Helsinki Final Act in which the signatories declared their intention to respect the inviolability of frontiers and territorial integrity. UNGA Resolution 68/262, which condemned Russia's illegal actions in Ukraine, was supported by 100 United Nations member states. Only 10 states opposed it.

Disinfo: The UK wants to intervene in the Ukrainian presidential election

The UK intends to intervene in the presidential elections in Ukraine, which will be held in the country on March 31st. The British government wants to bring to power in Ukraine a “president with a new course” who would abandon the country’s pro-Western path. That would help settle the conflict in Eastern Ukraine. This strategy is spelled out in the UK House of Commons report.

Disproof

Unsubstantiated claim, no evidence given. Recurring pro-Kremlin narrative on the West preparing for war. On January 21, the library of the House of Commons of the Parliament of Great Britain published a report entitled “Cold conflicts in the near abroad of Russia”. Describing the Russian aggression, British analysts drew attention to Russian attempts to influence future elections in Ukraine. In London, it was assumed that with the intervention of Russia, a certain number of pro-Russian parties could enter the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and insist on the resumption of relations with Russia. In this case, the conflict in Eastern Ukraine may end, but Russian influence in the country will increase. Further debunking by StopFake.
