Disinfo: Western curators want Kyiv to start a war in Donbas and involve Moscow in conflict

Summary

Kyiv has only one option to abandon the Minsk agreements - to unleash a war in Donbas, dragging Moscow into the conflict. This is needed not so much by the Ukrainian authorities as by their Western curators.

The Bayraktar drones, purchased by Ukraine from Turkey, are like the very gun hanging on the wall in the first act of the play, which must be fired at the end. The fact that right now Ukraine has used a Turkish-made drone may indicate that the Donbas tragedy is really coming to a head.

Disproof

Recurrent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Minsk Agreements, accusing Kyiv of escalating the conflict in Eastern Ukraine and challenging Ukrainian statehood.

Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. Both the EU and the US respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On 26 October, Ukrainian Armed Forces used a Turkish Bayraktar TB2 armed drone to destroy a howitzer used by pro-Russian separatists in Donbas. The drone was used in response to the artillery shelling from the occupied territories in which 3 Ukrainian soldiers were wounded and 1 killed.

However, this does not mean that Ukraine is preparing military provocations in Donbas. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it is not interested in escalation and that it prefers a peaceful solution. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Minsk agreements are the only option to end the war in Donbas.

See similar cases claiming that Ukraine is preparing a military attack on Donbas, that Ukraine tries to drag Russia into hostilities in Donbas, that Ukraine is the first one to refuse from establishing peace in Donbas.

Disinfo: The West does not shy away from grossly interfering in Georgia’s internal affairs

The West does not shy away from openly ousting the Georgian government and grossly interfering in the country's internal affairs. The West has begun a process of returning the United National Movement (UNM) back into power in Georgia, despite the fact that it knows the vast majority of the Georgian population is categorically against handing over the ruling of the country to criminals.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the Western interference in Georgia’s internal affairs, challenging Georgian statehood, claiming that Georgia is ruled by the West. Pro-Kremlin outlets often claim that many countries, not under Moscow's control, are "Western puppets".

Georgia is a sovereign and independent country that regained its independence in 1991 after the collapse of the USSR. Georgia, as an independent country, has a functioning government and economy, it is a member of many international organisations, such as the United Nations and the Council of Europe, and a party to international agreements. Georgia has bilateral diplomatic relations with the majority of countries and enjoys close partnership relations with the Western countries.

Disinfo: Anti-vaccine ideology came to Russia from the West

Anti-vaccine ideology in Russia is being spread by the West.

Disproof

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative surrounding the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the related issue of vaccination.

Available data shows that the Russians' skepticism toward vaccination against Covid-19 is homegrown. According to the Levada Centre, Russia's top independent pollster, vaccine hesitancy within the country is largely linked to the public's mistrust of the government and its handling of the pandemic.

Disinfo: Migrant woman miscarries after being beaten up by Polish law enforcer

A pregnant refugee has miscarried after a Polish serviceman kicked her in the belly several times on the Belarusian border. Her son said he saw an elderly Polish law enforcer with one star on his epaulettes do it. The woman later started bleeding and miscarried.

Disproof

Unsubstantiated claim based on unverified evidence from an unidentified migrant, quoted by a Telegram channel run by Belarusian border authorities and by several pro-Kremlin outlets.

In 2021, LithuaniaPoland and Latvia faced an influx of irregular migrants arriving via Belarus. Earlier, Belarus had terminated cooperation with the EU to stem illegal migration. This was Lukashenka's answer to the European Union's sanctions on the political regime of Belarus (read more about sanctions here).
