DISINFO: Western liberalism uses feminism to destroy traditional values around the world
SUMMARY
Far from being libertarian, the roots of Western liberalism were, and still are, hegemonic, dogmatic, intolerant, and violent. From the time of the so-called “Enlightenment”, the arrogant new religion of liberalism has set out to conquer the world, seeking to replace traditional values and cultures with so-called “Western values” using soft power as well as hard power (regime-change, sanctions, etc.). Feminism – pitting women against the culture of their ancestors – is the most important tool used by Western liberalism to dismantle and destroy traditions and hierarchies around the world.
RESPONSE
Conspiracy theory presented without any supporting evidence. The article contains gender stereotypes and the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative portraying the West as a decadent and immoral society that destroys traditional values and is breaking down under the weight of feminism and LGBT culture. This article also contains the recurrent pro-Kremlin narrative that Western liberalism seeks to impose the West’s decadent culture and model of society on the rest of the world.
Furthermore, the article’s message is consistent with the recurring pro-Kremlin narrative claiming that Western liberalism is, in reality, a totalitarian ideology that has been imposed upon the people by élites and does not tolerate any alternative points of view.
It is not true, as the article claims, that liberalism is “dogmatic, intolerant, and violent”. The central values and achievements of Western liberal societies - liberal democracy, the rule of law, human rights, equality before the law, freedom of conscience and expression, rationalism, self-criticism, the disinterested search for truth, the separation of church and state – are the opposite of dogmatism, intolerance and violent models of behaviour.
Feminism is the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. It is not the result of a Western conspiracy to destroy traditional values in non-Western societies, as the article suggests. Although largely originating in the West, feminism is manifested worldwide and is represented by various institutions committed to activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests.
The EU advances gender equality between women and men as a fundamental human right. Read further debunking of myths on feminism such as “Feminists are trying to be men” and “Women are trying to take the place of men” here.
Read similar cases claiming that feminist and gender theories are used by the West to undermine the cultures and the governments of countries based on traditional patriarchal values and that Europe brings totalitarian femininism to Belarus, which is destructive of society’s values.
