DISINFO: Young people organised a dance party at Notre Dame after the fire

SUMMARY

Young people organised a dance party at the Notre Dame cathedral in Paris after the fire.

RESPONSE

Video footage which was described as a youth party at Notre Dame was filmed at an electronic music festival organised at the St. Vincent Church in Metz, France, on 27 March 2016. The video, filmed by Irenee Sutter, had 200,000 views within 72 hours. As for Notre Dame, entry was banned after the fire on 15 April 2019. ABC News quotes French authorities as saying that the cathedral might open for visitors as late as in three years’ time. The Notre Dame fire caused a flurry of disinformation reports spanning a range of anti-Western and anti-European narratives, from Islamisation to moral decay in Europe.
