History upside down
The Kremlin disinformation machine goes back in time and turns history upside down. Outlets accuse the Western Allies of supporting Nazis in World War II and laud Russia for its false heritage of Soviet anti-colonialism.

Russia’s tradition of dehumanising and inciting hatred toward Ukrainians started long before the country’s 2014 military aggression against Ukraine. In fact, Russia’s imperial past and its more recent foreign policy have never accepted a sovereign Ukraine’s existence.
Since the early days of Moldova’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia has tried to maintain the country in its sphere of influence.
The disinformation narrative of ‘lost sovereignty’ is ultimately a narrative of disempowerment. It aims to erode trust in the democratic institutions and corrupt the very foundations of democracy.
